that have your new car. Have you found scraping the front lip around town worse than in your old car?

Obviously the front lip is a replacable and not expensive, but I found scraping the 996 lip to be like nails on a chalkboard.

I have not scraped it yet. Always try to enter inclined driveways or entrances on an angle so as to avoid it. I got used to doing the same thing on my lowered 996 so it isn't bad on the 997 now.

I scraped mine badly the first week, . Pissed me off! I wasn't used to the new height. After replacement, I don't care much about it like somebody already mentioned. Like you said, it is very inexpensive to replace. You'll scrape it..

I now look at it as a badge of honor! Check out the picture in Motor Trend - there are big chunks out of the lip of there photo car!!!

Take care!

It is about the same as my GT2. You need to pay close attention and plan your driveway exits or you will scrape.

You will definitely scrape more. I had a 996 GT3 and now the 997 GT3... when I lined them up side by side at the dealer for trade-in day, the 997 GT3 chin clearance was about a finger's width less (if that makes any sense).

yes. it's lower than the 996 GT3 for sure. i think it's also slightly lower than CGT because places i can clear CGT i scrape in the 997 GT3, unexpectly.

I only scrapped it once and that was at the Porsche Club Meet last Saterday. Happened right after I told everyone how it never scrapped on me. Oh well.

The chin is made to flex so as long as you go over areas slowly it will lightly scrape, causing a burring along the edge. I've been using sand paper every once and a while to take off the burr so that it doesn't look too ratty. At some point I'm sure that it'll wear down enough that it won't scrape too much anymore.

ashish and 20c4s, that's what I thought. From the measurements I've seen, the 997 GT3 as delivered is almost an 1" shorter at the front lip. Also, the design of the lip puts the lowest point slightly more forward than the 996 GT3 lip, making matters worse.

I ask b/c others have said they are the same front lip clearance, which I don't think is accurate.

Yes, you will tear the new ones that much easier - I know I did. I had my 996GT3 for 4 years and I would scrape it only the odd time. Even though I've become a pro in approaching driveways at angles, I still managed to tear a chunk out of the front apron on my RS in the first week I had it.
