Default GT3 rear wing adjustment

Does anyone know for sure how to adjust the rear wing on the 997 GT3? I have heard that there is some additional hardware that needs to be purchased. This doesn't make much sense though because all of the other rear wings on previous cars have had and easy adjustment system. Thanks for the feed back.

I adjusted mine...you do not need anything else...just remove all screws(including one in front part of wing) you will have to eliminate one of the screws that holds the adjustment post in, to get the additional angles. This particular screw is not placed back in at all, so that future adjustments are made easy.
There is a excellent thread on this someplace but I couldn't find it quickly.
Good Luck

You don't need to remove the front allen screw. Just remove the two screws at the rear position and then the third screw when you pivot the wing upwards and off the bracket. Now the bracket has been removed, pick which hole you want to set the wing to and then lower the wing onto the bracket and screw in the two allen screws. The third does not go back in. Save it somewhere but you will never need it again.

Thanks for the response on the wing. I should be able to handle that.

So... Is the factory setting pretty aggessive for downforce or is adjustment needed and recommended?

Bump
Has anyone noticed significant handling improvements after adjusting the rear wing? I just changed mine to the middle setting.

I actually run mine with additional downforce and notice the difference, but that's how my track dictates. I don't see 5th gear speeds, however, which would theoretically slow me down a bit. If you're seeing 5th gear for longer than a second or two, you'll be slowed down a bit by the increased wing angle, depending on how much it actually generates.

If you have LONG sweeping turns at 80+mph, I'd say to go with increased wing angle for increased grip. We have a few turns that are 75-90+ when taken flat out, sometimes with elevation change thrown in for fun.
If your track is mostly 2nd gear turns preceded and followed by long straights, it might be better to run the flatter wing angle for higher top speed- as rear aero doesn't really kick in too much on our cars until 75 mph on the low side.

I like grip, and don't like the idea of leaving any downforce or grip behind. The more of those I have, the more confidence I have to push the car faster.

Dumb question but if you remove the 3rd screw on the back how does the rear bracket keep the wing connected to the car?

The rear portion of the wing would bolt to the bracket with the 2 screws but the only thing keeping the bracket in the car is the tiny post that you move to one of 3 positions?

Also do you have to loosen the front screw so you can rotate the front bracket to the correct angle to match your changes to the rear?
