Default OT: Floridian porsche dealer doc fees

I might be buying from a Florida Porsche dealer this week. Their dealer doc fee is $599 which seems expensive. Is this in line with your experience? Thanks.

imo, doc fees are made up, when dealer to dealer transactions occur there is no such thing. basically whatever price you negotiated they just tagged on $600...

Walk away. Tell them you're not paying doc fees. I've done that and they've waived it.

My limit for doc fees is $250. It's a made up charge to begin with.

WOW. Never heard of a doc fee like that. Usually $80-$100 is the norm

California law limits this to $80 from what I understand. They are bs fees but the only ones on contracts here. I don't bother negotiating, just take it out of another part of the deal

technically it's the amount of money they feel like the ADP machine costs to operate and print, and with paper being soooooo expensive...

This is 'normal' for Florida dealers, but it's outrageous. The average DOC fee is less than half that.

Just got hit with $495 for Doc Fees on a GT4 purchase. I have 2 weeks till the car arrives. Any thoughts on what I should be willing to consider? $250? $100?
Honestly, I am paying no markup, so I will pay the whole thing if I have to pay it, but not thrilled about BS, junk fees.
Thoughts?

If the dealership is part of a major group (Asbury, Autonation, etc) you will see these high doc fees. It is one way for the dealership to sell for invoice and back of holdback and still make money on the car. That money then goes to the corporate office.

It's not right, but that is a fairly normal Florida document/dealer fee, in my recent experience. What I do is find out what their document/dealer fee is early on, make clear that my offers are inclusive of their fee and when they convey counteroffers immediately note the net effect of their counter, including fee. In doing so I have always felt that I ended up with a fair price inclusive of the fee. They almost always want to show the fee in the Buyer's Order. But if the price before the fee takes that into account, it's a wash.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm not trying to be cheap, but I know how junk fees can just be thrown on to see how people react. Nothing wrong with asking for it, the question is, will they reduce or remove it now that I have called them on it. BTW, I am in VA.
