Default Gt3 vs Carrera S?

I need some help guys. I have a may build date for a GT3 but I am having second thoughts. I'm wondering if the Carrera S would be the better car for me. This will be my 4th Porsche. The last two were modified 930's and I'm looking for something more civil, thats why I swithced to the GT3. I drove a Carrera S this weekend and now I'm really confused. I don't do any track work except maybe a couple drivers ed weekends a year. It will be a weekend car only. I really like the looks of the GT3, but something tells me I might drive the S more often. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Been there - the S, especially with a power kit and sports exhaust is great. But the GT3 is a lot more special and has a pedigree engine.

I am torn between intense pain and what's up with that. On the other hand, sometimes these things work out. Hope it does for you.

Pcarnut stay with the GT3. my 996 GT3 was almost more compliant than my 993TT and from what I have read the 997 is more so-plus (heaven forbid) you can select your suspension setting to fit your comfort.

Personal taste really. Every GT3 I've seen has a bashed up lower front lip so you have to be careful. Maybe you like to be more understated? The GT3 is more dough. The full time wing in the back could get old. What if they go with the 3.8L engine next year that the "S" already has? It's a tough one and probably not a rational decision Let us know what choice you make?

GT3 is the way to go. I alternate between my 2 p-cars as daily driver and the C2, eventhough a very capable car, feels very soft compared to the GT3. My 02...

GT3 no question. I have a 997 C2S cab as well as my GT3, and I nearly can't drive my C2 any more. I had it out this weekend and it felt defective, soft, squishy, numb steering, and slow. Brakes felt mushy compared to my PCCB. If it wasn't a convertible, it would be gone. It might still be gone when the TT Cab comes out this fall.

Drive a GT3 and you will forever regret buying anything else.

By the way, the front end scraping is overrated. Sure you hit it, but for $100 each, just replace it every so often. I bought two last month. A little sandpaper and you can't even tell. It's the price of doing business.

SrfCity doesn't know his engines.

The GT3 uses a diferent block and is the better choice, the replacement spoiler will cost no more than $150 and in Porsche's book is a replacement item.

Consider the beat up spoiler as a badge of honor! "I drive my Porsche"

I had an '05 S which I logged 33,000 miles. No doubt a great car!

Now, I have the GT3 and just crossed 2,000 mi.(from Jan) It is a whole different experience..more of everything, acceleration, handling, braking and is great to drive and as comfortable to drive as the 'S'.
Two AutoX's (PCASDR) so far and it shines...more car than the driver.
Wish that there were more convenient (closer) "real tracks" to easily get to from the LA area.

The only area of caution is it's approach angle of 5°, the splitter makes a horrible noise that never gets better.

Nary a regret
