I just ordered a set. I asked Gert about the installation and he said the bumper cover does have to be removed to get the left and right sides in. The center can go in without removing bumper cover.

It's very easy to remove the front bumper cover. Literally a ten minute, one person job.
I'd recommend a quick visit to the local home hardware store like Home Depot. Pick up some "expanded" screen door mesh. Maybe $15 for a lot of the stuff. Get some self-tapping stainless screws and fender washers, maybe another $10. Easy install. I might do it myself now that I'm doing all the talking ... : )
Anyway, 395 Euros for those screens is not a sensible number. Even USD$100 would be a lot given the limited fabrication and near zero materials cost. Keep in mind, Porsche uses plastic, not metal, so this is more of an appearance mod than a functional issue.
All that said, it seems the 997 GT3 is much more susceptible to scooping up road debris than the 996 GT3. Even a small reduction in air flow can be a significant loss of cooling -- note the vigorous efforts of pit crews to keep radiators clear during everything from F1 to Dakar. I've taken to keeping a can of compressed air as part of my track-day equipment. Along with a breathing mask, it's the quickest, easiest way to clean brake rotors and remove debris from all over the car, plus a single car seems to last for ages, so I don't hesitate to blast everything. It's a great time-saver when removing stones and tyre rubber from inside the wheel wells, too.

I guess I have to pay for lack of experience... or in this case common sense!

My Porsche dealer said the parts come from Porsche Motorsport (so would be for the Cup cars).
I think they would be very useful to protect the rads and prevent debris accumulating in the ducts. And they would look better in black.
But they estimated 4 hours to fit !

Let's say 1 hr to R+R the bumper cover, plus .5hr to fit the screens assuming they've never done the job previously.
If it's from Porsche Motorsports, what are the part numbers?
By the way, if anyone wants to pay me four hours at $150/hr plus US$500 for parts, I'll happily screw some patio bug screen door mesh into the bumper cover for them ... : )
(or was the quote for a Carrera GT?)
