997 GT3RS/GT3 Rohrl Ring times
Not sure if anyone has posted them before, sorry if it is a repost, but EVO magazine states that Walter Rohrl posted a 7:45 with the 997GT3 and a 7:42 with the 997GT3RS on a damp Ring.

Looks like to me they are all about the same with driver being the difference, and the TT is surely easier to drive fast w/ all the tq and AWD.
In the real world, with reasonably skilled driver I'm betting we'll see the TTs routinely faster on the track than GTs and RSs.

Naw. It's not about the laptimes (within reason) it's about the experience. GT3 variants offer a more intense experience than TTs. They talk to you more and I think more fun to drive.
None of us here are buying these cars to become pro racers; they are hobby/enthusiast cars for those afflicted.

TT's are too close to a video game type experience, IMHO...soon enough they (the cars) will "learn" the track and the driver will only have to push a button, hang on to the steering wheel and they'll acheive the best possible lap time!!

SportAuto ran the 997 GT3 at the Ring 4 months ago, and they got a 7:48 (actual test, not a guess). The results are published here in rennlist.
I would expect Walter Rohl to be capable of running a 7:43-7:44 with the regular 997 GT3, and a 7:39-7:40 with the 997 GT3 RS. These times are pretty impressive. The fastest time for a 996 GT3 with similar r-comp tires (Pirelli Corsa System) by Lucas Luhr (Porsche Factory driver) was a 7:49. Rohl is a faster driver at the Ring than Luhr, and Luhr has to be much faster than Von Saurma from Sport Auto. I guess Rohl could drop another second from Lucas Luhr time for the 996 GT3 on r-comps.
The C6 Z06 7:42.9 time is a marketing bluff from GM. At this point most of the people know about the tested Z06 not being stock.
The 996 GT3 RS 7:43 time is what can be compared with the possible times to be posted by Rohl from the 997 GT3 and 997 GT3 RS. The new RS beating the old RS by 3 secs at the Ring, makes the new car 0.4 secs faster per 60 secs lap, if the difference at the Ring is 4 secs, it will be around 0.5 secs faster per 60 secs lap. Not bad.
Examples of 60 secs laps: Pocono Racetrack North Course, Lime Rock Park.
I ran a 60.9 at Pocono Racetrack North Course with MPSC on my stock car, a 60.3 with MPSC, lighter seats, LWFW, lighweight wheels. I also ran a 59.6 on Moton CS and Toyo RA-1 on a wet (damp) track.
