I understand. But just because the specs are set for the 07 doesn't mean they are for the 08 even though some seem to think that shouldn' be discussed here...

So the "which Porsche is a real Porsche" isn't only for the air cooled bunch.

But now that I'm getting a sunroof in my GT-3, maybe that qualifies as air cooled!

I never said it wasn't a real Porsche, I think it's great but I'd rather not have the sunroof and I'd really hate to get a 07 & the 08's come without a sunroof. If it doesn't change for 08 I'll probably eventually cave...

Well sort of, see it's mostly us air cooled guys compaining about the sunroofs, PSMs & whatnot!
We want to get into the GT3s but don't want those nonsense things in them!

I’m certainly not degrading the GT3 at all, more so, I’m unhappy with Porsche for not giving its US customers a choice. I think the new GT3 is a great car with lots of improvements, but I find what you’re saying to be arrogant. Like you took a poll on how long people have owned Porsches, how old they are and what should be discussed here, who’s opinion matters and who’s doesn’t and are speaking for these people? You think your opinion matters more because of how long you have owned Porsche’s and every one that doesn’t agree with you should shut up because you feel so entitled? Think again.

The originally post was dissecting the sunroof, while it’s great that everyone can have an opinion about it, I believe there should be a choice and if enough voices are heard there may be a change for ‘08. If you need a pat on the back to make you feel good about the car you own, only read the posts that make you feel warm and fuzzy.

BTW, I’ve only owned 911’s for the last 20 years, not quit as long as you, so I might not know what I’m talking about...

Your a very funny guy. Maybe you should look up the word "arrogant" in the dictionary, you may be suprised who's picture you see next to it. I think I have had enough of this thread, if by chance I offended anyone I apologize, that wasn't my intent. Just wanted to let you know that some of us enjoy the car for what it is. Sunroof or not I know I will enjoy mine, maybe it has something to do with the roads we drive

I looked it up, if the shoe fits...

Arrogant: Making, or having the disposition to make, exorbitant claims of rank or estimation; giving one's self an undue degree of importance; assuming; haughty;

Synonyms -- Magisterial; lordly; proud; assuming; overbearing; presumptuous; haughty

Your dealer is mistaken. If Porsche imported only 5 model GT3-RS they would still have to certify them to federal motor vehicle safety standards. There are no credits or exclusions for limited-line manufacturers with respect to roof crush resistance or head contact regulations.

Jason (et al) according to the PCNA dealer information site, all 997s have a sun roof because Porsche refused to crash test a non sun-roof car. The RS is exempt because of the limited production numbers. So, that's the official word from Porsche on the subject.

NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS - I just got my order guide for my March 2007 RS and black is the only no cost color. White is the most expensive color!! At 6000 Canadian dollars (figure over 4K in the USA). This is the biggest rip off. White is a no cost color on every other model. I am very annoyed at this blatant rip off.

Everybody bitched so loudly about wanting white they figured here you go and stuck it to them with a 4k price tag. I'm surprised the don't do the same with a 652 delete option.

I have a really hard time believing PCNA's marketing department on this one. There are no exemptions to FMVSS based on production numbers for a specific model and there were no waivers granted to Porsche for this.
