Post Sunroof saga round 2 - PCNA response to my letter

I've attached PCNA's response to my letter objecting to the mandatory sunroof on 997 GTx variants. In my letter I referenced the earlier response that was posted a month ago or so, and the completely unsatisfactory explanation for their decision in that reply.
In a nut shell; "it's our decision and we're sticking to it...so F.. off"

Of course, (not that I'm trying to defend them) they don't have any choice at this point since the first GT3's will be hitting the U.S. shores in a couple of months and they certainly can't admit the mistake, with a commitment to fix it, without causing a lot of disruption for the 2007 model year.
But if you take this at face value "it (their decision) will not be overturned", then for the next few years be prepared to pop that sunroof on your 997 GT3, RS, or GT2 as you exit turn 15 onto the long straight and enjoy the blue sky above.

I love the "customer commitment" title. What a joke. But you are lucky, I did not even receive an answer for my letter.

this is the most unprofessional reply I have read in a long time....I am starting to wonder which direction Porsche is going. Customers will buy anything we offer anyway is their thinking. I bought 31 Porsches over the years. Maybe time to look around?

They will not impact their profitability for an insignificant number of customers. Sorry but that is what we are. The days of paint to sample and semi customer cars is long gone. The company almost went under building great cars that not many people bought. They build cars that people buy.

Well, true but we dont have to buy it this way, RUF or grey market offers alternatives, some 996 GTRS s made it here, I wonder if we can "have it our way" by importing ourselves. Remember the price in Europe includes VAT which I believe is refunded when you export

To quote Pat Riley, "I'm going to the proctologist this weekend to have 50 foot pole remove from my *** placed there by the NBA" substitute NBA for Porsche!

I've never seen such blatant disregard for customers. Man I never thought I'd say it but it maybe time to look elsewhere boy those F-cars sure are pretty!

Anyone have a 993RS for sale? Or I may go for a 360CS...

We are still in charge to some extent. Anybody in the retail business can tell you how scary customers' can be. Just do not buy the models you cannot stand new or used, and they will get the point.

Enthusiast you are right.
But what you are failing to understand is that right now WE are NOT the scary ones.

You're right. Unlike cosmos, at least 95% are "talking the talk" but not "walking the walk".

Please do not remind me of what I did.

That being said....I did not get off the list for the RS. I am still on and waiting for a Fall build.

And incase all that fails, I have a Fall RUF build slot that I can have.

It might not work out that bad for me.

Jeff,

I completely agree but there are quite many who are buing or want to but 997 GT3 but this is really bothering them not only because they don't want the sunroof but maybe even more because they don't like the direction the Porsche is going to and in the end, don't want their car like that.

And many of them long time Porsche fanatics & owners who don't want to change the marquee but are forced to do so and in a way IMO should do so. You should buy a car because you like what it does and what it is, not because all the past Porsches are/were great.

****, I'm like that but I'll probably end up with one and change the roof.

I talked the talk and I walked the walk and passed up on my GT3 position...still I'm on the RS list...
