Exclamation Help!! - 997.1 GT3 DME - Huh??

Hey RL, Long-time lurker... first time (I think) poster...

Got the following DME details back from a dealer on a 997.1 GT3 for sale. I'm not bothered by the Range 1-3 revs but can someone help me understand the Range 4-6? How is a "1" in each even possible? Considering the hours (more than 250 hours ago) I'm not too worried... but just confused really on how this sort of DME is even legit?

1 - Range Hours / Revs - 588.6h / 324
2 - Range Hours / Revs - 588.6h / 72
3 - Range Hours / Revs - 588.6h / 1
4 - Range Hours / Revs - 588.6h / 1
5 - Range Hours / Revs - 588.6h / 1
6 - Range Hours / Revs - 588.6h / 1
Current Hours - 857.2h

Thx so much in advance for any guidance. Much appreciated!

those 1’s were most likely an error I think most guys would say ignore, but not entirely sure. It’s also makes no sense to me that there would be a single range 6 and only 1 range 3 considering the time it takes to get from 3 to 6.

TY @Wonderdan ... much appreciated.

While I am definitely no DME expert... I do agree. Seems to me that it just isn't possible to have only 1's in the 3-6 range. Car has a few fault codes (C131, C141, C144 and 8009) but I understand these are all non-engine related. More related to A/C and the radio (it has an aftermarket one installed). The 8009 has something to do with the driver's door but again... definitely not a major DME fault or anything.

I think I might take the plunge today... not really seeing enough major red flags to walk away from this car.

Thx for this @Hamhands ... glad to know that everyone is on the same page with this one.

I've asked to have a compression test done on the motor (just for some extra piece of mind) however, I don't expect it to show any major problems (knock on wood). With any luck, I'll be finally joining the "GT Club" if everything works out.

Preemptive congrats! What's the specs on the car?

Thx @SR20Fastback ... fingers crossed here. I'd post up some specs and stuff however, want to lock down the deal / details first. Once I have paperwork in hand though... will definitely bother you with pics and all sorts of rambling on about becoming a new Porsche GT Papa.

OK gang... I'm still awaiting the compression test from the dealer (no reason for the delay provided yet)... so I got thinking to myself, since this car is originally from Japan, why don't I pull some information from the Japanese auction records. So I did. And what did I find.

1) Car had an aftermarket big wing (Maybe to be expected as it was coming from Japan);
2) Car title was R (Repaired)... bad... but condition Interior/Exterior was B/B so very good (hmmm...); and
3) Here's a shot of the interior. Oh my...

What do you guys think? Car has subsequently been taken back to stock (transmission, steering wheel, rear wing) - presumably by someone after import before selling/trading to Porsche. Currently I'm in-between negotiate HARD on this or just walk away completely. Any help greatly appreciated!

Am now thinking that transmission swap may be our culprit for all those mysterious Range 3-6 "1's" as well???

negative. many cars with stock gearboxes have the same erroneous readings of 1 in ranges 3-6. No one has been able to explain why it occurs but the consensus is that they aren't meaningful.

are you outside the US? you better know what you're getting yourself into with these ex track rat cars. judging by your description, it sounds like this car has been through the wringer.

Yes, car was imported into Canada and brought back to stock/OEM. No mechanical fault codes are coming up and aside from the DME report (which looks fine other than the 1's) and the C131/141/144 and 8009 faults from the scan.

Posting a pic of the exterior for further reference which totally screams "track rat" as you've noted @lawrence1 Intention of this purchase was a spirited weekend driver and not a track rat machine. I'm definitely no backyard mechanic by any means so all of the work that has been done to the car has turned my feet pretty cold. Ugh.

Perhaps a better question would be what sort of range price-wise makes sense. Assuming this would be somewhere in the $100-125K USD range if located south of the border? What price would you take a chance on it vs walk away?

That's the cup decklid and wing setup as an FYI, which I am currently seeking.

Have you seen the car in person? How is it cosmetically? what is the mileage and what are the other mods? That would all impact the value.

Car is too far for me to inspect in person but it appears in very solid condition considering it's now 15+ years old (couple pics for reference).

As for details:
- '07 in Guards Red
- 30,XXX kms or ~20,XXX miles
- ClubSport (Buckets, Cage/Harnesses, Sunroof Delete)
- Porsche Steel Brakes
- Stock interior - Alcantara/Leather where expected (I believe - correct me if I'm wrong)
- Red Seat Belts (I believe that's an optional)
- No Sport Chrono (I don't see on dash so assuming this was an optional add-on not taken)
