Thanks for the perspectives and sorry to derail. Been thinking about a E9X or E60 for a fun daily... having trouble deciding

The M5 is the faster car of the two for sure. If money is not an object and you can take $10k and just replace every common failure point, suspension/brake refresh etc, and you drop it off at a shop and tell them to sort it all for you, 100% it's an insane machine. The V10 is awesome. In my case, I do most of the work myself, and generally work through one project at a time. It's a pain in the neck to own doing it that way. Because it needs so much, and I'm limited by time and money, it often would sit torn apart in the garage for a few months until I could finish whatever I was working on. Then it's on to the next thing. In my ownership I've done rod bearings, Vanos lines, new battery, both throttle actuators, radiator fan failed, front/rear sway bar links and bushings, fuel filter, tires, four new brake calipers, fuel injectors, belt and pulleys, rotors, pads, front upper and lower control arms, and the front passenger strut. Not to mention all the things the previous owner did before me.

All good. Depends what you find fun. Both tremendous motors. Ones just much more powerful. E9x is a blast though. Between handling , playfulness, steering and tranny E9x all day for me

I have the same RT660s on my .2 GTS and after a day at Sonoma, I have the same tread splice tears. Tire Rack says it's not an issue and new replacement tires will exhibit the same thing.
I've looked at other car forums and seems like it's a common thing for our tires.

Congrats on the 997-3. SY is sweet. Danny at Mini Corsa rocks too. A pretty hot shoe as well. We've done a few track days at Willow springs and I always enjoyed driving w him.

How do you like the MCS coilover system compared to the stock "sport" setup? I just went back to stock from a very aggressive KW Pro setup, and although I like the stock system, I do crave a more precise system. What are your notes having driven both? Which MCS system is it you are now running?

Thanks for any info you can share and again, Congrats on the 7-3. Love the 997 platform

interesting. I can’t see how that’s safe. Looks somewhat deeper now too after using them on the street.

yep. Danny is the man. Been tracking together for a decade. I didn’t spend much time or track on stock coilovers. Danny had these on his 997gt3 for a month before he sold it. He didn’t run any faster lap times vs stock with them but he said And I agree they’re just incredibly smooth. Def smooth out bumps on track and on the street super chill. I daily my car so it’s a nice place to be. They’re the MCS single adjustable. Nothing fancy but good. My stock front shock was rattling and needed replacing anyway.

Thanks for your impressions. Do you prefer the MCS over the stock sport setup? Is it firmer yet compliant compared to the stock soft and hard stockers? I drive between the softer setting on the highway, and the firmer setting on spirited runs, but I think I'd prefer a set it and forget it that is more like the firm setting, yet more compliant, in a sporty, canyon carving kind of way, if you know what I'm trying to get at.

Cheers, and enjoy the 997-3. What a platform. If you see Danny any time soon, tell him Chris says Hi.

the only time I adjust it is at the track I go basically full stiff all around. Much more complaint than stock. It’s impressive. Spring rates around around 560/840. But rides much smoother.

In a way it almost felt like we put less racey shocks on completely cause it was so smooth. Typically say on my M3 you go to say a KW clubsport and car is much stiffer and you feel it on bumps. This was almost the oppsite. Like did we make the car worse/softer? Hahah. But nope. Much higher spring rates but just rides way better. Can def find a setting you like and just leave it be though. I have them set in middle setting on street and is super chill. Easy to adjust.

Awesome! I gotta get out to a speed district day again soon. Awesome to see you using this thing to the fullest! What types of times are you doing on CW13?
