997rs4.0 is absolutely amazing but when you’re having the most fun and doing 100+Mph and 80000rpm going pass houses and other cars people give you a weird look.
964rs/well set up 964 you don’t go as fast and normally they don’t scream as loud when you go pass other people.
Electric cars are weird, I DD a polestar 2 and nobody hears you doing 100+mph so I guess that’s the best car for the road.

The 996 GT3 is hard to beat for filthy thrills. She shrieks, bucks, bites, runs, ya, a total turn on. Very rewarding when you get it all right....
Let's Drive!!!
I'll second that opinion after putting on 146K miles and it still kicks butt.
993RS is my favourite drivers' car, by far. It is challenging to drive (hard), and gives you real sensation of speed at speed levels that are still more or less acceptable on the road. Without any electronics to keep you on the road, it's really rewarding to master the 993RS.
A manual 991.2GT3 is great fun too, but it's a frustrating car at the same time, as you can't really exploit its full potential on normal roads.
I can only agree - in stock vs stock form, for the road and even as a daily, difficult to beat the balance of agility, power, dynamics, overall driving engagement, and size (important to me) that the 993 RS offers.
Although I love my own 997.1 and 997.2 cars very much, the 964 RS is on a different level when it comes to driving enjoyment and purity. My vote goes to the 964 RS as it is able to provide driver feedback in an altogether different way than the later water pumpers.
I might have to reevaluate my vote for 997 GT3 RS on this pole. The one car I thought hard about was the 964 RS, but didn’t vote for it as I had never driven one before. However, I recently acquired a 964 Carrera Cup USA (a federalized 964 RS built for an eventually cancelled one make racing series called Carrera Cup). It uses the exact same engine, transmission, seam welded chassis, suspension, etc as the RoW 964 RS. The car is street legal and can’t wait to try it out next week when it arrives.

I started off this thread with the 964RS (see post #2) and I stand by my choice.

That's absolutely awesome my friend...I look forward to your updates! Congrats!

I saw you sell your 991 which is a beautiful car and purchase this one. I was immediately drawn to this simple white beauty. Merit was selling a 964 rs a while back and I thought about that one for a moment. I think you’ve purchased a very special car and would really love to hear about your driving experience with the car! Just sublime to look at!
I don’t think there are any cars I’d ACTUALLY buy back. I got enough use out of them all to know I had experienced them and was ready to move on. HOWEVER, if I had to pick one to buy back one day, I think I’d pick 964rs / C-cup USA (they are so close I’m not distinguishing between the two; that would take its own thread of hair splitting analysis!). I can complain a bit about Porsche not quite getting the suspension right unless u r on glass; it gets easily unsettled and starts hop/skip/jumping with a bit of undulation. I can complain that the 964 platform starting to get a bit heavy for no power steering and the later g-body cars for that matter. Outside of those two nit-picks, it is a really unique and really exciting drive experience and lots of fun that can be accessed on street. I doubt I ever buy one back but if I had to get one back one day, I think it would be one of those two and I’d sink a little money into the suspension and just wear some driving gloves to deal with heavy steering . If I had not fallen in love with the early 911’s, the 964rs or C-cup USA would still be in my garage. I hopelessly fell in love with the 65-73 era and I just haven’t owned an AC’d that does it for me like it. 964rs/cup very different but my 2nd place finish across AC’d cars I’ve owned.
RapidGT, enjoy it. There are some hard core C-cup USA owners in NNJ. I never met them face to face but they were super helpful when I bought the car. Unfortunately, by the time I left TX and moved to NE, I no longer owned the C-cup USA. But what a unique storied car!
Great insight! I love hearing about how people who have actually owned these cars and lived with them describe these cars. It is hard to step back in time. A big question for me is how this crazy run up in price for most has impacted true values. A lot of the subforums around here and other forums show many hemming and hawing about current pricing. I will admit that I want to have my cake (sell at prevailing prices) and eat it (buy at pre COVID pricing) too! I like a lot of these cars, but in this market I see many of them as being over valued imo only. Likely, I will have to wait for market to cool down or correct.
