Replaced her with the new black …

Nightmare shipping story. Had to drive 3+ hours with my trailer to go fetch her after shipper’s truck “broke down.” It did not break down. It threw a CEL light and the kid driving assumed that was fatal. Sigh. Home now.

Huge congrats! Pumpkin is my favorite .1RS. How was Grand Prix to work with?

Congrats J, looks to be a fine example. Now the forum wants to hear a comparison on the two cars. The .2 GT3 against the .1RS. I was and still am wondering if the .2 is that much better as I wanted the newer tech but aesthetics won over for me and I grabbed a .1RS. Engine dynamics, handling, etc.....

Thanks all for the kind words. Very much appreciated. Still hasn’t really sunk in that I have my modern 911 grail. Got in my first long drive and wash today, and couldn’t be happier.

Still too fresh for extensive comparison, but after a very spirited drive on challenging backroads I know well, a few impressions:

Motor - Playful, quick, smooth, linear. It is noticeably down on power and torque from my tuned .2, and needs to be wrung out at higher revs to get the same level of push, but it’s gloriously high-strung and silky. 5k 2d / 3rd gear pulls in the .2 were intoxicating and violent. This car doesn’t really have that, but the power delivery makes the .2 feel lumpy by comparison. Looking forward to exhaust and tune on this motor, but out of the box, it’s very, very good. LWFW such a game changer.

Chassis - PASM in .2 much better developed. Much stiffer on Sport setting in .2, and more dynamic in responsiveness. That said, this car is poised. Having read so much about the .1 being twitchy and nervous and difficult to wrestle at speed, I expected something altogether different. But it’s incredibly well-balanced and controlled. Backroads were damp after storms last night, and it took me 20 minutes to build my confidence to the car’s ability. My .2 had RSS links all around and motor mounts with stock coilovers, and I dare say the Pumpkin felt better and more nimble today on the same roads at the same pace I usually carry. Not sure how to square that. RS special sauce ? A very good alignment ? Whatever it is, that was a bit of a surprise.

PCCB - My first car with it. Amazing. So easy to modulate. Threshold braking more effortless and controlled. Not quite the initial bite I’d like, but I can play with pads down the road.

Aesthetics - Every nook and cranny is achingly gorgeous. I keep finding little Easter eggs all over the car. The front bumper in particular is just a masterpiece. Just stunning. Can’t wait for my first paint correction . . .

All in, just totally thrilled with it.

Thanks for sharing. Congrats on a great choice and color. What a first day to enjoy the car...Christmas 2023. Easy to remember your anniversary date. The car is stunning, especially when it's clean and the light is right. The box is the weak spot. The gearing is not quite right, so as many have done, a re-gear will make a huge difference. As you mention, the LWFW is a game changer too. Sooooo easy to get the revs where you want them at your shift points, Exhaust and tune will make a huge difference too. Enjoy her in great health and keep us updated on the progress. Is it an 07 or 08? Cheers.

Damn dude, this thing looks SO right. I finally understand the urge for the swap now.

@jreifler so epic. I was concerned when I heard that you let go of the .2

Welcome to the world of .1, the twitchiness that I've experienced was/is only on track (threshold braking), after doing the LSD everything has settled down, motor mounts also help, do yourself a favor and get some steel rotors ;-)

what a great spec, no wart and leather and buckets

needs cage now

Ya, great spec here. The Guards LSD is fantastic as are upgraded motor mounts. The car feels complete, other than gearing. I have steel rotors under the yellow calipers on mine and they are perfecto. Love your seats and as Belinko stated nice that there is no wart, although mine has one so I've grown to like it. Full leather is great too. Enjoy it. Have the coolant lines been attended to? Enjoy!!!

A proper alignment will get rid of the twitchiness. These cars are super sensitive to alignment changes. Make sure it's done by a Porsche guru not just a good alignment guy.
