OIL ANALYSIS

Just did my oil change. I replaced the small o-ring, which I decided to do every other change. It looked ok, but I preferred to replace it-the nearby dealer gave me a discount so it was only $9.82 😑
I bet dealers or most places don't even change the small o-ring unless you ask for it

Wanted to bump this back up. Does anyone know where this copper is coming from? My car has had 3 oil changes all with elevated copper. I'm guessing it's nothing to worry about since everything seems to run well, but I'm curious.
Last two changes were with Motul 300v 5w-40, and I think the first change was done by the PO with Motul 8100 5w-40

maybe there is copper in the throttle body pivot that failed for Elliot, just a shot in the dark

I don’t think 30PPM copper is that high for this engine. We know when new, readings are in the 60PPM and higher range, and continue to decrease over time as the engine wears in. As long as the levels are not increasing, I would not be concerned. see what they come back with on your next sample.

Eagle eye!! I was surprised myself to see it with no mention from Blackstone in the report. It has to be a change in the additives since magnesium is a detergent, but I've only been using mobil1 0w40 since new. I suspect there was a formulation change because I don't add anything extra to the oil. Curious to see the report next year.

I’ve run M1 0W40 ever since I’ve had the car. I believe M1 made a change and started including more Magnesium.

I'm not a oil or chemistry nerd, but it's interesting being able to detect the changes in additives. This oil nerd video discusses high calcium in DFI engines being problematic. Wonder if M1 is just adjusting to the modern world of more DFIs.
