Default Interior Discussion

So in my incessant scouring of all things 997 GT3 I have realized just how terribly unconsolidated any sort of interior talk on these cars is.

With what I would consider one of the best cabins of any modern car - I think it would be great to have an area to discuss, show, and inquire about all things related to where you spend most of your time with your GT3.

Steering wheels, seats, cages, painted pieces, leather, alcantara, etc.

There are so many ways to subtly (and not so subtly) change, upgrade, and customize your bubble.

I just recently sold my CF folding buckets in favor of some Recaro Pole Positions and a set of stock Adaptive sport seats.

But coming from a long time of BMW M car ownership, and my daily Tesla M3 - I cant help but always think about how big and skinny the stock wheel in my .2 GT3 is.

Anyone have experience with the 991/ RS 4.0. Sport Steering wheel? CLA wheel? A thicker wheel of your own doing?

I've been eyeing this one in hopes of figuring out wether or not its been thickened or what because it looks ideal.

definitely doesn't look like the standard gt3 wheel to me... auto amateur on youtube recently redid his wheel with a company in texas that does rebuilds / thicken / etc.

Looks like that steering wheel would be slightly thicker. Here's a pic of a stock one in post 7.

I believe 997s had an option for a thicker steering wheel, though I wouldn't know if I've ever seen one. I certainly haven't seen one for sale. Dallas Steering Wheel is pretty well known for offering a thicker steering wheel.

I personally find OEM to be best, but to each their own.

A few photos of my interior. The car was pretty heavily optioned but over the years I've managed to add a few things that the factory wasn't offering at the time...

Only things I want now are alcantara visors and "Porsche" embossed center console lid.

put a 997 cup wheel on there. sure you lose the airbag; but will drive and feel like a go-kart!

Ive looked into this one, the CLA RS wheel. While Im not a big fan of the stripe - its definitely thicker.
Idk wether or not its true but apparently an RS VIN is needed to order the wheel.

I agree about always leaning toward an OE option. Thats why I'm looking a lot at the Sport wheel and the thicker option below.
Just seeing if anyone has experience with either

Love the 4.0 wheel. What do you think by comparison to the stock wheel?
I have the embossed center console lid in alcantara. I didn't care for it at first but it really did grow on me.

The thought certainly crossed my mind for 10 seconds haha.

Yeah debating on "PORSCHE" or the crest so haven't ordered.

I love the steering wheel much better than the stock one. On the 997.2 GT3 (RS) wheel, your thumbs rest on the center plastic which isn't as nice as alcantara or even leather for that matter. In fact, the 997.1 GT3 (RS) steering wheels have a better design IMO.

Is it any smaller in total diameter than the standard wheel?

This is what I want. Easy swap? Any special tools required?

It's a direct swap. Diameter seems the same to me. I had the RS4.0 wheel on a GT3 that I recently sold to a RL member.
