Curious to know if you compared the weights of stock vs CSF rads?
That's a great question. I don't know the weight differences.

Will these exciting changes be visible on German Car Day tomorrow in Redmond?

Steve I wish. Car should be done next Friday. Quite sad it didn't finish up for German day with E@RTC.

Paint. Mirrors, Spoiler end caps, and front bumper are going to matching as well.

Good move on paint over powder coat. Paint > Powdercoating

I'm not a fan of red on anything so you changing the color scheme to blue is going to be epic in my books.

Have to ask why? I have had special low temp (340deg cure, 10min) powder for mex blue and orange made, had to make 50lbs of each for custom color match. Sold some lbs to vendors here, very durable (no chips, like have happens to paint) and smooth. Even Forgeline powder coats there wheels, they have not experience any adverse issues.

These are sitting waiting for me to find time.

FLT6SPD I remember when you had a white 997 3RS. You did white/blue color way for awhile. Which I always liked! Good to know you had blue wheels for that. I only remember see photos of it on silver wheels.

The reason I went paint was just ease of color match.

You're right on the cusp with 340 at 10 minutes, which sounds like no annealing would have occurred. From your post, it also appears that you're doing your own coating which is key. Another issue, although rare, is that it's harder to see hairline cracks that develop in powder coated wheels. If you 5 luggers do decide to powdercoat, make sure they don't get it in the holes where the bolts seat. You'll never be able to torque down your wheels properly.

T6061 aluminum goes thru several stages and the final stage is the artificial aging stage where the aluminum wheel is heated to around 350 degrees for several hours. It's been said that putting the wheel through another heat cycle will weaken the metal. HRE and Forgeline powder coat but HRE only started powder coating once they learned out how to do it with low temps. They also don't warranty their wheels once they have been recoated by someone else. BBS, Champion and. slew of other manufacturers paint and never powder coat.

So with so many variables with powdercoaters, I always choose paint. It's also easier to remove and repaint. FYI, the wheels on my orange Rs are powdercaoted, by Ron Barnaba. I wasn't happy about it, but I let it go. What was I to do, have the man buy me a new set of wheels. I'm living with them and they are fine.

There is this thread on 6 speed where these two cats go at each other. Pretty comical but you get the reasoning from both sides. It's a decent read.

BTW, those blue wheels are insane looking.

I think he's doing gray and blue this time. That's going to be a pretty hard to beat color combo.

I think it needs some matching side checkered decals.

Congrats on getting it back. Really like how you did the center caps with contrasting white lettering.
