997 GT3 RS a Modern Classic ?

Wow, It's beautiful in Black. Awesome. Mine was white with red gauges, buckets and a 6 speed. It now roams the roads in Puerto Rico. Just heard from the guy last week. He loves it.

987.2's are wonderful cars glad to see them getting some love!

I understand your comment that at the end of the day the 987 Spyder is a Boxster and platform wise that’s inescapably true. I get it BUT the 987 Spyder has been able to transcend being a “Boxster” and is more than the sum of it’s bespoke parts which is why they are prized and sought after. Rarity plus demand has kept the value high and stable.
It is a special car and garners looks and compliments wherever it goes.
Not many can look at this little car and not see its special. The drive is the cherry on top.

I bought it from an RLer on here years ago and he color matched the center of the wheels. He did a great job and it was a nice touch. Sorry to derail the rhetorical question OT: yes, 997 gt are modern classics and yes I sold mine way too soon and yes anyone that sells is likely selling too soon because I imagine they will continue to do well for the foreseeable future.
on the 987 bs: 1) I think boxsters are incredibly under-appreciated cars an I also think are the most fun car porsche makes for the street. 2) all the spyder versions are just that much better/more fun for the street. I don’t think there are many cars that are better bang for the buck. Let’s be honest, a CGT is basically a big boxster (ok, with a v10, carbon fiber tub, wishbone suspension and a few other goodies........but otherwise it’s really just a big boxster when you look at it out of corner of your eye).

I can't agree with you on the CGT comparison, and I do see that you own one I do agree that the Boxters are super fun street cars. The Spyder's are that much better and are amazing cars, but at the end of the day, for me, my heart always beats faster for a 911. I've owned several P cars at once and finally realize that my time is better spent enjoying one special car at a time. I don't Muti task well....

I never drove a 981or 718 Spyder but from the threads that are dedicated to these cars my take away is that the newer cars are faster and more advanced with nannies and larger and the 987 is considered the “original” Spyder and treasured for it’s purity, smaller size and analog nature.
Kinda like 991RS vs 997RS to an extent.
987 Spyder was also produced in very limited numbers. I think 1500 or something WW with only 800 or so in US.

I’m in the middle of this realization right now. 4 cars. Always something. Starting to take way too much energy away from me
