Funny. I’m enjoying my 997RS more and more. Yesterday just pulled her out of the garage and pulled up a lawn chair to do some work on my laptop next to it.
my diagnosis is that you've finally filtered all the Coolaid OUT of your system and your blood stream is now fresh & clean, ready for the reality that the 997's are the BEST GT3's in existence.

Thanks doc. So no medication needed and I’m good to go! 🤪
I agree. Finally off the merry go round and thrilled with my decision. I finally found happiness. 🥳
Funny that my ‘11 GTS was a car I always regretted selling in a big way. It brought me back to the 997 platform that I just loved.
My GTS. Still regret selling. 1 of 1 in black, factory aero kit and red leather interior.
Wow!, that is a beautifully spec'd GTS ... I'm hoping that you are not following the prices of those 997 GTS' w/ aero kit these past few months (depending, of course, on when you actually sold that one)
its like a feeding frenzy out there right now. ... Upside is that you bought your RS at a good time

Steve: sold in 2013. Bought a Raptor. Wife reminds me all the time “I told you to keep it” 🙄
Waxer, I heckled you on the 991 gt thread years ago about buying a 997rs to put all that 991rs fandom nonsense to rest. U r welcome.
Now, if you love your 997rs, my next piece of advice is don’t buy a cgt. I know they are apples-n-oranges but somehow that purchase made my 997 “dead-man’s” cars become someone else’s cars this year?? Actually it caused me to sell everything except an old “901”. I am 99% sure I’d still own 1-2 997rs had the CGT not made everything else feel boring. Ironically, if I ever bore of the CGT, one car I’ve never owned that is a potential swap candidates is your 987 spyder. And that says a lot for the 987 spyder. You have a great pair from the exact same era but with different focuses.
I have nothing but amazingly positive things to say about my ownership experience with 997rs. They will always represent where it all started for me. More than anything I think a 2yr semi-retirement where I drove any/everything I ever wanted more than I ever could have imagined: i just got a lot of stuff out of my system and for the first time ever, when I turned the key of a 997rs (and other stuff), goosebumps didn’t appear. I think I just crammed 2 decades of ownership into 2years.
i give them my vote for modern classic, I’m glad I got to drive the wheels off of a few and I’d recommend them to anyone that hasn’t yet.
Don't mean to derail but curious if you have personal experience to be able to compare the CGT to a Gen1 Ford GT? Certainly same era build in direct competition of one another. PM me if you would so not to derail.
FWIW I believe the 997.2RS is also a modern classic. But I am one who will probably never own a 991/992RS

987 Spyder is a great car. Very easy to drive fast and perfect out of the box. Doesn’t need a thing. The factory nailed it. I owned it for 4 years along w a 996 GT3. Great companion cars. At the end of the day, it’s a Boxster. I sold both the 6-3 and Spyder and bought the Pumpkin. I kinda miss the 6-3 at times, but don’t think of the Spyder much. CGT sure sounds great. Anyone try a 918 Spyder? That car is awesome! To spendy for me though...

I understand your comment that at the end of the day the 987 Spyder is a Boxster and platform wise that’s inescapably true. I get it BUT the 987 Spyder has been able to transcend being a “Boxster” and is more than the sum of it’s bespoke parts which is why they are prized and sought after. Rarity plus demand has kept the value high and stable.
It is a special car and garners looks and compliments wherever it goes.
Not many can look at this little car and not see its special. The drive is the cherry on top.
