All depends on what you want to do on a weekend. I have my Kermit RS, and had 2) GT4s. Weekends were almost always for autocross a few years ago and the GT4 was a very fast car, easily faster than my modified RS. Took a lot of season trophys with the GT4 while I had it.
My RS is a raw beast though. Bigger sways, autocross alignment, 6 points, GT2 lightweight seats, rolling on 18s. And Cup Car ring and pinion with new Guard Crmolly Billet LSD. First gear is a stump puller. That RS has given me many seasons trophy s. Took FTD at an event last Sept, but not me at the wheel.
I am more track focused now.

the RS simply because it’s more prestigious to the brand. The value even dictates this. The GT4 will be just another GTS with bigger wings. The heart of the beast is very important to me. Had Porsche put even the smaller 3.6 Motorsport engine it would make the cayman legendary. But they didn’t..... Go ahead and make the mistake of driving a RS👍🏻😆

^Retention of GT4 MSRP??? Not from what I see.
Believe me I’d LOVE to see it happen but I find a lot of evidence to the contrary.

I mean retention of a good price , no I don’t think it will hold at msrp . But sure,, run it hard have fun and still sell for a great price.
i can’t see all the 981,s going down from the gt4 all the way to the base 981 base.
in the end but for 90k now get 75k in 5 years possibly.

The Gt4 I think will be more than just a bigger winged Porsche. Less we forget only 2500 built in 2016 in North America. The last flat 6 981 with its awesome sound track. And the retention of msrp sale price to this day. I think it will be a fast track collectable.Lots of cancellations on the 718 allotments as the smart guys are sticking with the 981

I would suggest that 981 GT4 values are primarily determined by the broader market, what else can you buy for 80K that is more fun, better looking, and more reliable? The buyers of 981 GT4's are likely cross shopping a large number of other vehicles such as corvettes, s2000's, M3's, and GT-R's, they are looking at these cars from a value proposition perspective. It's worth noting that all sports cars are doing pretty well right now in terms of value retention/appreciation, so it should be no surprise that 981 GT4's are holding their value as well.
997 GT3 RS values are determined by the small number of people who have decided that this is their "dream car" or a must own 'collectible", people in the market for a 997 GT3 RS are likely only cross shopping other 997 GT variants.
The 997 GT3 RS is iconic, the 981 GT4 is 'just' a great car, don't expect the 981 GT4 to appreciate or hold value in the same way that a 997 GT3 RS will.
