Owned both at the same time.

Driving around town, the 981 GT4 does a great job of being a normal car. But judging it purely on that experience is sort of missing the point. If you have access to interesting, twisty roads, the GT4 is an approachable and fun tool that really comes alive as you learn where the limits are. It rotates on center and is so rewarding to push hard. Playing with the limits in the 997 GT3 feels much more antisocial on public roads.

I agree the 997 GT3 is way more emotional, visceral and special, but it's also tiring after a couple of hours of spirited driving especially with a loud exhaust. I could drive the GT4 all day and have a great time.

That said, the 3.8 in the 981 GT4 is gutless in comparison, but the 718 really fills that gap with some OPF deletes. Just my 2c.

I had a 991.1 C2S with the same 3.8 as the 981 GT4. Great engine, but no comparison to the Mezger 3.6 in the RS IMO...
