I haven’t been lucky enough to try a SW4.1. Hopefully, I’ll be able to compare my 4.2 with a friend’s RS 4.0.

This is an awesome thread and the kind of posts that makes RL and some of the members fun. I hope to see more updates here as I am seriously thinking about doing the same thing for the street!

It also makes me glad to be a 997GT car owner!

OP, will this GT3 be used primarily as a track car or a street car? What are your expectations from a day to day drivability, idling, oil/coolant temps, etc?

It will primarily be used as a street car, and I don’t expect it to have any major drivability issues. I’m only 90 minutes from VIR, so there will be at least a couple of track outings each year.

I’m also getting the coolant lines pinned and installing the RS 4.0 clutch, pressure plate, and single mass flywheel. I’m fitting adjustable lower control arms in the rear. The only non-standard suspension parts are drop links and rear toe links. My car already had its limited slip differential rebuilt last year with Porsche Motorsport clutch plates.

This is so much better than a "What's my car worth" thread.

(although I'm just as guilty following those too )

OP, any need to do aftermarket coilovers with a build like this? Sounds like you'll be doing aftermarket rear CAs, drop links and rear toe links.

Ever consider the 997 RSR Sachs triple carbon clutch instead of the 4.0 clutch? One of my favorite builds runs it. It's a different animal than the 4.0 but curious to hear your thought process if it was considered.

I’m not doing coilovers for now. My house has a pretty nasty driveway, so I need the front axle lift function. I’m moving next year, so can do coilovers then.

I didn’t really consider the RSR clutch. I thought the RS 4.0 clutch-flywheel combo would be “racy” enough for me.

I am seriously thinking about buying an Orange RS3.6 and do a 4.2L! Win-win-win: Mezger+Orange+4.2

The new cars are so boring I don't know what else to do...

We will be twinners one day, as this will be a future goal, and one for each of my kids. I have the grey/black so far...
