search would have helped you, it's well documented that there are 420 ignitions per second at the rev limiter (range 1)....so the car has spent 1.25 seconds at redline it's entire life and fractions of a second above the mechanical rev limiter. Hardly an indicator of a car that's tracked hard in my opinion.

I'd steer clear of a car with range 4 over revs. Porsche has told me they won't certify a range 4 over reved car as well. Even if the car was fine, it would be a hard sell down the road. Here are the ranges FYI Range 4 is 9600-10000rpm. Thats a big miss shift.

Even if the car has 270 hours, that means the stage 4 happened 150+ hours ago...if it runs well it's fine, any major issue would have reared its head well before 50 hours went by

I don't quite understand 3's and 4's. I sometimes overblip and can clearly see higher numbers on my AIM data, but I have no Range 3 or 4. I also almost made a bad shift but pushed the clutch pedal back in before fully committing. The data showed a very quick blip to about 9600, but I still have no 3's and 4's. With all of that, I have about 950 Range 1 and 60 Range 2. I sit on redline briefly on some tracks in a turn or two to avoid two shifts. I have sat at 950 &60 for quite a long time even though I have these overblips. Do they not count if the clutch pedal is pushed in?

This is incorrect unless it just changed. They will CPO a car with range 3-4 over revs pending a compression/leak down test and it also needs to be a sufficient number of hours ago (150+ I believe)

I believe its 50 hours according to http://www.911virgin.com/porsche/rev-range-information . Need to find out before dropping 100k on a car.

Not sure on my car... only time I've ever seen an over rev on my car is with a zing'd shift, and well, I shift at redline pretty often and bounce the limiter.
A range 4 is a missed shift. If over 50-100 hours, it's fine.
Last OR I had ticked off 5 Range 1 (I only have about 30 range 1). It was in the AIM data.

Total operating hours is 297. We verbally agreed on the price. Fingers crossed. Here's the listing - https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ctd...617367943.html
