Can the rev info be erased in anyway other than swapping out the control unit?

Do not intend to hijack this thread but the other day was thinking what happens if car battery is disconnected for 6 months? Does ecu have it's own battery to maintain the memory?

I looked at the add for that car. Beautiful! That’s basically a clone of mine. I love GT Silver and full leather! Wish you the best and a long and happy ownership experience!

This specific example will NOT erase the date.

I'm pretty sure that if a problem was going to arise from the over-rev it'd have already happened. That said, if you're buying the car for an under-market price then you'll just know you'll be selling it for under-market down the road. So you'll spend the same depreciation from the time of purchase to the time of sale as anyone else does with these cars, regardless of the DME, and will have enjoyed just as much fun as the rest. If you never sell it then you've come out way ahead.

Good luck. Car should be fine. With an average MPH of 34.97 I'd hardly consider this example as "definitely been tracked hard". And some of the "tracked cars" I've seen, here on RL and other places, are some of the best maintained cars I've seen. Enjoy.

Do you think this is priced undermarket? Btw, it was a real struggle to decide between 997.2 GT3 or a slightly used GT4 with warranty as my first porsche, but I feel like I should experience a 911 first.

Thanks everyone for their input so far.

This. If she's a forever car, no worries. But right or wrong, it will be a sure headwind in the resale market.
