Default Thinking of buying my first Porsche. Is this the one?

I've had my eye on this GT3 for a while now. I initially tried to make a deal on a new 991 Manual but these dealers are out of their damn mind so I've gone back to this 2007.

2007 GT3

What do you guys think? Price seems fair @ $105k compared to other listings within rennlist and other sites.

I drove her and she's tight, no squeaks, paint looks brand spanking new and they showed me the documentation showing 0 red lines.

I come from BMW's and Pro-Touring Muscle cars (All manuals) and I know I would thoroughly enjoy having this in the garage.

What should I look for before I make a decision? Thanks for any advice.

For my money as a semi recent buyer, I would rather have a .2 for that money. That car does look nice, as as long as the PPI and DME are clean it's on the high end but not crazy money.

Yeah I don't disagree with you there. I can't seem to find a .2 GT3 to my liking and those are heading north of 120k+ and I'm not sure it's that much more car, or is it?

Depending on your use it may or may not be. I figured for me it was worth the 5-10k.

A 997 (and earlier) GT car might not be the best idea for a first Porsche, unless you're used to noisy, bumpy, and hard driving. Most people work their way up to them. The 991 GT is a different story, much more user friendly, lots of first time Porsche buyers ended up with one of those.

If a 997 is what you desire you might also want to consider a 2010-2011 (997-2) car if you have the means. More powerful engine, better suspension, electronics, and more pleasing to the eye (at least for some).

$115k for a .1 is crazy money. You can get a nice .2 for less than that.

it’s 104k not 115k

0 red lines and 18k miles. Car is as perfect as imagine.

Still too much?

I drove the 997 and it’s not rough at all compared to my other cars. It almost felt soft. The clutch was nice too, nice weight and spring load. Some guys complain about rougher rides but I love it dearly. The rougher the better!

I've always heard that and finally had the chance to spend some time in a 997.1 GT3 last week right after getting out of my 2006 997S. I thought it rode pretty well and wasn't loud at all. It didn't feel "raw" to me but I've also had nothing but modified cars for the last 20 years. The heavy clutch got old in freeway traffic though!

That being said I absolutely loved it and need one. Anybody up for a trade? haha

If that car speaks to you and checks your boxes go for it. Definitely get a good PPI no matter how good it looks and well presented it is.
It is above average money for a 7.1, but if it's an above average example I think its right in line. I paid above average for my 7.2, but got an above average example almost exactly how I would have ordered it. I have not once regretted paying more for a great example. I found that most of the lower priced cars had a good reason for being lower priced.

Good Luck!

BTW my first 911 was my GT3. The others all felt too soft and sedate.

Too much for me, as I much prefer the .2. But this car looks to be a great example and Guards Red is the best colour IMO. So if it ticks all the boxes, go for it!

Good luck

Check out switchcars.com, they have 2 997.2 GT3's. One in yellow with buckets and higher miles, the other a black .2 GT3 with lower miles. Black one has a respray on the rear quarter but is a good car for less money than the red one.

2007 .1 GT3 is my first P car. I came from modified audi and VWs , so frankly the ride in the GT3 is much better!

Price seems a little high, but looks stunning. Good luck.

I think price wise it's not far off and if it's everything it claims to be then it's probably worth it as you can get a less than stellar example and immediately have to put thousands into it to get it correct.

YOLO
