Finally went back to Laguna. Corded my NT01s after the first day (lasted 4 days total), so it was time to put on the BFG R1S!
Within 2 sessions, broke my PB and dipped into 1:36. Tire grip is incredible and the car can definitely do low 1:35s or maybe high 1:34s with the setup, if I only had the courage to push it that hard. Maybe next time...

I cannot even maximize the BFGs, so the Michelin's would be a waste for now. Although on the 2nd day I did end up with a 1:35.7 rolling lap on the BFGs, so slowly getting there.

Finished a weekend at 3 mile Thunderhill with PCA Diablo and PCA GGR. Had a chance to drive old BFG R1S and brand new Cup2 back to back. The BFG R1S lasted 4 track days and about 20 HCs before they became too uncomfortable to drive, but even at their slowest they were capable of a nice 1:57 lap.
The brand new Cup2 were able to reproduce a consistent 1:58 time, but seemed way easier to drive at their limit, due to the noise and a comfortable progression to understeer when pushed to the limit.
No comparison between the two performance wise as the R1S wins hands down. Also had a lot of fun with the Alekshop "Nobull" car that ran considerably faster...too much power and PDK!

I'm jealous. I used to get out about 10-12 days per year. Been awhile. Just curious, are you running a 58" Cup wing or 63" Cup S wing? I hadn't heard of the 63" until I bought mine. I had a 58" in the past and save for width the 63" is identical. I also checked with FVD and my wing is definitely POMO but I'm interested in what wing blade you're running. I really dig your car! Well, what better way to celebrate Easter Sunday than going to the newly minted Weathertech Raceway with HOD? But first things first; using the Alekshop car wash service, and by that I mean, me washing the cars
Laguna Setup complete, including the cup mirror conversion. That was a major pain for such a small item.
With a brand new set of BFG R1S the predictive time was dipping down to 1:34.2 laps, but unfortunately other people had the same idea, and the group was very much sold out and packed with major traffic. This resulted in a best of 1:35.3 time in said traffic. I will take it as it is still a 1 second + improvement from the first time I used the tires. With more practice, I think the car is capable of 1:33 times.
April seems to be a slow month, so time for some maintenance and a little break!
Ok, it has been a month of hibernation since the last event. I found the downside of 46,000 miles, sticky tires and many track days - at the last Laguna event my rear axle joint leaked. I suppose it served me well time wise and it was fortunate it was not a bigger mechanical issue. Porsche had only two new ones in the inventory for my car, one in the US, one in Germany.
Alekshop did a nice job getting the new ones installed and ready for Thunderhill.
While at it, we installed Fabspeed high flow headers, just to mix up the noise a bit and to try and save my OEM cats. Big thanks to CamsPorsche for a super easy transaction through Rennlist!
Finally made it to Thunderhill (3 mile with the hill) with HOD and somewhat newer BFG R1S tires. Beautiful sunny, but not too hot!
First few sessions yielded some nice results. Beat my PB by 2 seconds and got to a 1:55 lap. That seems more appropriate than my previous time, given the car setup.
At this point I feel like the times have been adequately lowered and it's time to work on some refinement. Targets for the car would be 1:34 at Laguna, 1:54 at TH and 1:44 at Sonoma. Next up Laguna mid-May and Sonoma end of month.
You just blew a cv boot?
I had new boots put on mine repacked and cleaned joints were in good shape. I’m at 46k too.
Had a boot startingnto seep a bit so got ahead of it. Had a trans output flange seal sweating too so we did that.
