Default US/UK license plate bumper mounts

If I bring over a US 997 gt3rs to UK, any way to deal with those rear bumper humps that flank the US plate mount so it will accept a UK plate?

I believe they're removable and will require a patch for the drill holes at the paint shop.

It's a lot more complicated than that if you want to do it right. The rear bumper rebar on US cars has the metal bumperettes. They are riveted on. You will have to drill them out. Then you'll have to deal with the bumper cover itself by having a body shop cover the bumperette holes. Or buy a ROW bumper cover and relocate the tow hook mount from the rebar from the center to the side. It's a fair bit of work to do it right.

No need... you can have a UK plate made to US size... perfectly acceptable by DVLA when a UK plate cannot be fit without modification. PM me if you need details on aspects of SVA process. Good luck!

Best that you get a Euro spec rear bumper. Like ilko said there's the issue of metal substructure behind those bumperettes, but you should be able to keep them there without doing metalwork.

The plastic plate mounts are the least of your worries. Standard 997.2 items from any dealer at £100 a pair...

Ugggghh. This sounds like only option I’d consider.

that's the least of your worries ... have you looked into the process of getting the car approved for use in the UK and registration?

awesome! - although I have to tell you that when I drove an LHD Porsche in the UK, passing other cars (especially trucks)
and entering and exiting parking lots were a real adventure!

Agree. I have a RHD 981 spyder for in the city/congested areas. LHD cars would be parked way out or not at all. I’m going to experiment with my 69 911e before I bring over anything with any HP or material concern over.

sounds like you have it planned to a tee!

definitely worth taking the RS to Spa and the Ring also ... just a chunnel and a drive away!
