Thanks Frank. Understand, Porsche NA could only make this painful. For clarity, you didn't know the plate number before arriving, so I'm assuming USAA issued the Green Card against the VIN number only? Thanks again, Dan

    Hi Dan,

for me it was actually quite easy for Porsche to accept the USAA insurance. I called USAA (who were very knowledgeable and referred me to their UK office), gave them the details on the car and they issued the required green and white (don't quite remember) insurance cards which I brought with me. For Porsche, this was no different than another European or German customer picking up his car. For clarification, I did not deal with Porsche NA to sort this out, I dealt with the folks in Stuttgart and I did not get a refund of the cost for the insurance that Porsche did not have to take out - in 2007, they provided 2 weeks insurance for free (which I did not need).

Good luck with the pick-up. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

    Cheers,

    Frank
