Default 2007 GT3 clutch problems

Hello guys,

On my 2007 GT3 I had an issue on my clutch for second time on the last 3 trackdays. I run a light flywheel with a SACHS racing clutch.

Last time, the problem was the guide tube on the release fork.

On Friday I had the exact same feeling. I upshift from 3rd to 4th and I felt that the clutch pedal had contact with the floor of the car and when the pedal returns was weird. Next time I used the clutch, the pedal stayed on the floor and didn't come back.

That was exactly the same that happened the first time, but we didn't had time yet to remove the gearbox to check.

My question is if because I am using the LFW and the updated clutch I should use a pedal stop or if you know why this problem is appearing.

Thanks.

Air in lines
clutch master
clutch slave
Check those first

I use the full factor RS 4.0 LWFW kit on my car for many many track days.

Also check the clutch spring on pedal. Mine got stuck halfway. Mike

Thanks for the answers.

It seems that the fork is the problem.

I bought my lfw and clutch kit from a friend who bought it for his 997 gt2 but he sold it before he mount it. I just saw that the fork reference is different from the turbo to the gt3. Might that be the problem?

Thanks

I am curious how the fork broke. Could you post a picture of the damage?

I have had a few release bearing/fork problems on my 996 GT3. (single mass flywheel)

In my case the release bearing rotated so that the contact point between fork and bearing was no longer optimal. As a result of that the pressure plate movement was compromised and so clutch didn't fully release. I was able to change gears but only just.

The release bearing design isn't that great IMO. Also the tolerances between release bearing and clutch fork seem to be all over the place.

The fork didn't broke. The problem was that the fork gets out of the bearing when releasing the clutch.

Ok, thanks for clarification.

Maybe you had the shorter guide tube installed? The one that is used with dual mass flywheel? Single mass flywheel needs longer guide tube.

I guess they change it, but I will double check.
Thx!

The shorter guide tube is also slightly smaller (1.5 mm or so) in diameter vs the long one so it allows more radial release bearing movement vs the fork.

...which eventually may cause release bearing's claws to slip away from the fork. Clutch pedal will stsy floored. Don't ask how I know...

I can imagine how you know it.....

Today I checked my guide and the one I have installed is the 49mm not the 63mm.
I ordered the 63 one.

Hopefully this is the issue.

That makes sense. I am sure that will fix the problem.
