Didn't the dealer give you a loaner? I thought I remember reading that and if so I'd doubt they would compensate you any more but good luck. Sounds like you've had a tuff run lately.
No they gave me a loaner and I've expressed my appreciation but the point is it's not my 911.
I'm missing prime summer driving time, 3 shows that I would have participated in and had the strike not occurred I wouldn't be 3 week plus without my car, still having to make the payment and essentially having the loaner work out to something I'm paying over $1k to use.
If they had given me a comparable car to use then I wouldn't really have thought much about the payment as I'd have been able to enjoy what little summer vacation I get to normally drive my car. But nice as the Cayenne may be it's not a 911 nor brings the enjoyment of driving.
I'm really not trying to come off as a dbag but sorry ... $1k is still a reasonable amount of money to pay for something I can't use due to no fault of my own.
Ironically just had the engine on my Tacoma go out. I never take it to a dealer anymore, as they are always silly expensive.
Found a guy in Schaumburg who is awesome at this stuff as an alternative.
Unreal ****ty experience I just had at Arlington Toyota with my FJ ... bought the truck there in 2007. Never had any issues service or helpwise until now. I don't want to relive this experience but I'm with you ... no more dealers on this truck. I need a few drinks after this ...
The Car payment ... I'm really with you on this that it's nothing I can do much about. But I've had a couple friends who've suggested asking about it.
...
Mostly I just want to get the car out and drive the crap out of it
Ah, I see. When I said you may be out of luck with your payment, I wasn't trying to be a hard-a$$. The friends suggesting this to you probably don't understand that there's very little real-world connection between Porsche finance, Porsche corporate and the dealer.
If you do ask about the payment, let us know what they say. I'm going to make a WAG and say if Porsche finance does anything about the payment, it may be an offer of a deferral.
Keep in mind that if they offer that, your interest will continue to accrue even during the deferred period. But again, that's just me guessing at what their offer will be. My first five years with my employer (large American bank) was in the auto finance arm.

We're here if you want to vent. What did the Toyota dealer do that got you riled up?
On a side note, if you're unhappy with your FJ, they're appreciating at the moment. You can probably sell it and make some money back--even over the original sales price. Just trying to find the silver lining for you.

We'll see ... he was going to talk to PCNA for me and see what he can do. As mentioned before ... I get that it's not the dealer or mechanics here specifically that I blame for anything. **** happens ... maybe Corp with want to win some goodwill point. Not sure. I'll mention if so.

Arlington Toyota in Palatine IL. Really was surprised by this ... I bought the FJ there and more often than not they serviced the track and I never experienced anything like this. I knew they were gouging me a bit but I always compared pricing and til now they did a decent job.
I guess it comes down to how the service rep intaking the car is ... for years it was the same guy. He and I were on good terms and he made sure things were done right. In this case they gave me someone who hadn't even finished her training and she majorly hosed things.
The service manager tried to make things right but he couldn't even go far enough to make up for how badly she and the tech working on the car messed up. They even broke the hood release on the car ... tho I couldn't push that as it's an older truck and maybe it was gonna go anyhow.
But then to try to hit me up for over $400 to fix it sealed the deal for me. It won't be a dealer I or other family members used anymore.

I totally agree with you on the appreciation of the truck. I've never been unhappy with the FJ ... tho the Cayenne has spoiled me a little bit. What I decided to do with that is take it into an independent shop a buddy swears by and have them do an over all inspection on the FJ then quote fixing everything that would "make it good as new". Short of the interior that between the dogs and me have worn out a bit. Still would be cheaper than buying something new ... and it wouldn't have the novelty of the yellow beast!
New update .... Mechanics strike still showing no end in site so my car remains in the bay waiting to
have the service done. But what Napleton has done which I thought was very cool is swap out the new Cayenne they had loaned me with a brand new 718S. It's not my 911S but it's a fun little car and after not having mine to drive for so long it was very welcome. They sent someone out 40 miles each to my house to swap out the vehicles. No chance in hell the dealership I bought the car at would have done that and they are a fraction of the distance. So ... the wait goes on.

Do you know what is the reason for PDK failure?
I have a PDK and I am more than double of your mileage is. I started to worry after going through your thread

Hey as an aside. Drews' Garage in Schaumburg. That is where I take the P-Car. He is a fan, and owns a 71 911 as i recall. He is also where i take my 04 tacoma, 09 sienna, 93 SC400, etc.
did you have any history with this dealership? Anything in particular that lead them to getting PCNA to work with you? Wondering for myself in case the TCU fix doesn't fix it.
No history with Napleton aside from looking at cars there years ago before I bought my first 911 at Lambo Chicago which was next door. Just called around and the service manager just wanted to do the best job he could for me. Showing the customer respect goes along way ... at least for for me.
Looks like this will be a final update ... the dealership came to agreement with union and went back to work yesterday. So, based on what I was told I'll have my ride back early next week. Between the loaner new Cayenne and for the last week the 718S they swapped out for me I've "made it through" the strike without so much pain. But I miss the hell out of my car and am anxious to get it back. Thanks to everyone that posted in the thread. One thing I've learned from this ... never just accept what the first dealer says ... there are dealers out there that do want to make customers happy and care about doing a good job.

I was hoping you get to my question. Were you able to know what is the problem of your PDK?

Hi ... really sorry .... just seeing this. I believe it was a valve issue that if they allowed the PDK to be worked on would have cost like $3300 to repair. Thats according to the quote Motorwerks accidentally left in the email when they sent me the diagnostic report. But alas ... as you're probably aware Porsche policy doesn't allow to be worked on. I've learned an important lesson ... extended warranties are worth every penny

Do you know if this is a common problem across PDK of 997.2? I am not aware of any issues on PDK until I saw this thread.
The true failure rate of the PDK is hard to tell. Especially from Internet forums. I think only ZF and Porsche knows for sure. Long as they fail after the warranty or CPO terms are over, I'm guessing that's acceptable to them. The first batch is nine years old now, let's give it about three or four more years. At some point they will have to allow repairs as fitting a 2019 PDK to a 2009 might be iffy or they just keep getting broken ones in and fixing then send back out. But I'm guessing the price will go up not down

From my experience before ... and after this reading from various sites it's not a common thing. Most of what I knew beforehand and from reading about it once the issue occurred is that the ODK was said to be pretty rock solid. Assuming one wasn't driving super aggressively or racing the car most of what I read was how it was lasting some over a 150k miles. Sometimes as in my case ... **** happens.

Not common and seems to be random rather than use factors creating a failure. Several members of this forum have had them replaced. IIRC one member has had two replaced.
