Large metal object in sidewall... can I get away with one new tire?
I don't think it's remotely patchable, so here are the stats:
New rear tires about 5 months ago
Around 3000 miles on them
Michelin PSS
Edit - Tread on middle tread bar is mostly gone... this is very shallow tread
Not sure exact tread depth... proly 7ish but uneven across tire cuz it's a 911
So... is there a rule of thumb for when you can get away with one tire vs the whole axle?
Thanks.

The middle bar tread is super shallow. I measure between 7-8 32nds. They start at 10.
But to answer your question, I generally accelerate on the harder side. No burnouts. I just have to get there.

Get one of these, measure it, then buy 1 tire and ask TR to shave it down for you. What are your alignment specs?

What are you running for tire pressures. Center wear on a tire is usually caused by over inflation.

But seriously... assuming I have 7-8 32nds left, do I really need to buy two tires? I've seen many Carfax that show one tire replaced. Would 1/16" radius difference be any problem?

You wheels look too big but thanks.
In summary... I had 8/32 remaining. Multiple sources said one tire is fine... including Porsche. Michelin has built in road hazard, so I have to pay $92 for a new tire. Not bad. America's Tire is pretty legit. They'll have a tire for me this afternoon. Case closed.

You're fine with one tire. 3000 miles is nothing.
Center wear is a sign of both significant UNDER-inflation and OVER-inflation.
(If under inflated the center is allowed to flex outward in response to centrifugal force), while overinflated causes them to wear in an accelerated manner.)
I think your TPs are fine. I run 33 and 39 with a light load at all times.
