This sounds like a great deal for a beauty! Similar to my experience, buy the seller (even though in my case, he was 3k miles away!), feel confident and put a deposit on it pre-ppi so the seller knows that you are serious, and all will turn out as it should...one way of another...fingers crossed...good luck!!!

Quick update:

I met the owner, drove the car, and did as thorough of a parking lot inspection as I could. End result was a deposit and a PPI scheduled for next week

fingers crossed that comes back well and then it's off to get it shipped. (Any recommendations?)

I've done 3 enclosed shipments with Reliable carriers - all great.

You mentioned that the car is located in the South - when Park Place Porsche in Dallas shipped my car to Birmingham, Al last October they used a small operator Derrick Burgess Transportation out of Atlanta. The car arrived perfect so I kept his card. I am moving to Houston so I called Derrick and was quoted $1 per mile ($700) enclosed. Intercity wanted $1300+, another estimate I received was $1400. Today I received my car in Houston and again perfect. 706-247-1949

We're getting closer...

PPI from Foreign Affairs came back great (thanks for the recommendation!), the trailer is booked with Intercity, and the car seats for the kids are picked out.

My plan is roughly as follows...
Week of may 29
- wire full payment and have seller fedex me the title
- start my insurance on the car (is this ok, even though it is still in his possession?)
Week of June 4
- car gets on the trailer
- I take title + insurance + bill of sale to DMV and register the car (while it is still on the truck)
Week of June 11
- car arrives and I'm ready to drive!

Does this order and timing look right?

thanks for the continued support! it's getting close!

Looks good to me. If you're insuring this car with your regular insurance carrier, then read your policy terms, but you probably have 30 days of within purchasing a new car to notify them and still have coverage for it. Still, I'm of the "better safe than sorry" school so I'd do it as you outlined. Has Intercity Lines quoted you a 2-week delivery timeline, not that it matters as you'll be ready whenever it arrives, even if it takes a bit longer.

Really excited for you and I can tell you are too !

true...but I need the insurance card to register the car w/ NY

No...but they told me the pickup week is June 4 and then it's 3-5 days for delivery. So I'm *hoping* that 2 weeks is the high end of the estimate! ;-)

A long overdue "thank you" post from me.

I was waiting to take a decent picture, but I have been doing more driving than picture taking

The car 2009 Carrera S Cab has been an absolute blast and has been trouble free so far (knock on wood). Intercity was great for the transport and the PCM in an 8 year old car is surprisingly good (not too many features to get in the way of ease of use).

Thanks again for all the help!

Default Congrats!

Congrats on the new ride! Did you have any luck with the car seats? I just went through the same process in June with my new (to me) C2S.

I'm in Westchester County. Are you in the area?

thanks! I owe a pic of the car seats, too. I ended up with a harmony dreamtime deluxe for a 5 year old (behind the driver) and the diono radian rxt for my 3 year old (behind the passenger). Both are tight fits but secure well and are easy to take in and out. I remove the seat bottoms when I put the kids' seats in.

I'm on Long Island - eastern Nassau.
