I found the same with my .1 C4S over the last 15 months of ownership. IMHO the base 997 declined a little. The S held or appreciated a little. The C4S went up about 9%. I have no baseline for the GT2-3 or Turbos.

In Europe I see that prices for my 2007 997.1 C2S is holding stable despite age and mileage increase the last three years.

I have "only" 37.000 (60000km) miles now and seem to get same or slightly more than what I paid three years ago. Paid 46.000 USD.

Of cause you never know what real sales price will be until you have money in your hand but this one is advertised higher (51.000 USD) than I paid three years ago and it has double mileage from when I bought mine and it does not have the cocoa full leather I have etc. Very similar otherwise. Even the turbo wheels

It is all very relative....

because 991.1 C4S significantly holds higher value than the 2S models...
so you will have to pay more to upgrade to a 991.1 C4S when you sell your 997.2 C4S

...assuming someone actually wants to "upgrade" from a 997 to a 991, which may not actually be an upgrade. In a few years, I think that 997.2 C4S will actually be worth more than the 991.1 C4S.

With the release of the 991.2 cars, the 991.1 values of all models will start a more accelerated decline, whereas all 997s (.1s and .2s) should now hold steady or increase, especially the GTSs. NB 997 cars, especially the upgraded models like the 2S and GT3 are actually the more rare cars and the reason Porsche and companies like RUF build their track cars on the NB platform in many cases is because with the reduced CD, they're actually faster, all other things being equal.

With the 991.2 GT3 being offered with a manual transmission, 991.1 GT3 cars will probably take a bigger hit than they normally would and if a PDK GT3 is what someone has been looking for, holding out a few more months should result in dome good deals to be had, especially since the 991.2 GT3 has better electric steering feel and an improved PDK transmission. I think a lot of 991.1 GT3 owners will want to upgrade to the newer platform for various reasons.

Late 997.2 c4s are rare and the 991 replacement for the c4s came later than the c2 and c2s. So there is a pretty big hole both in the timeline and in the money like. The oldest 991 c4s are younger than the oldest 991 c2s, and they cost substantially more. Unless cabs.

Agree w/all of the above.

While not necessarily willing or interested in selling my .2 4S, the list of what might pull me out of my car is pretty short. Top of list is a (likely manual) 991.2 GT3, or otherwise jumping ship to another brand entirely.

Either way, zero interest in up/downgrading to a 991 carrera model. The 997.2 4S will likely eclipse the 991s in value in 5-10 years. Of course the difference won't be meaningful and plays no role in my lack of interest in a 991 carrera.

This thread (and others relating to the same subject) are complicating my ability to talk myself into trying to sell my 997.2 C4S cab to get a 997.2 Turbo S cab (still a bit too expensive...)

Does anyone have production numbers or ballpark percentages for the 997? Out of the tens of thousands made, I'd be curious to know how many are manual 2S/4S coupes.

My .1 2S Coupe seems to have held its value since I bought it despite collecting 12k miles and aging a couple more years. This is by comparing asking prices then to asking prices now.

I've noticed the same and read an article (I wish I would remember where) about the 997.2 4S being one that has kept is value extremely well and creeping up from recent asking prices. It is quite interesting if I search for a 2011 model (which I have) on Cars.com or Autotrader how few come up. Any given time between 10-15 cars.

Love mine - with 68K miles and after four years I am starting to look at trading up at some point. Maybe a 2014/15 Turbo S or GTS 4. Enjoying the ride until then...

The 997.2 c4 is also the only 997 to break up the rear with the red stripe. Let's say 50% of people like that better than the plain one, that's gonna demand pressure on those c4s that exist and are way less than 50% of 997.2s made, much less all 997 cars.

Glad to see this because yesterday I looked at a '12 997S. The car was low mileage and nicely equipped. The color was speed yellow. I loved the car, but thought it was overpriced at low 70s. The dealer said he thought it would go for high 60s. Beautiful example of a 997.
The other issue was the value of my well maintained '06 997S
