Anyone buy their car without even seeing it in person?

Bought mine sight unseen...flew down and still remember how blown away i was to see it in person. Drove it all the way from Nashville to DC. Smiled the whole way. Have had it for almost three years and love it as much as the day i got it. Runs awesome. PPI helped to make me feel comfortable about the condition of the car.

what companies are you guys using to ship the car? Uship?
I'm sort of in the same boat as the OP. I may be buying a new 991 TTS sight unseen (I'm in NYC and the car is in California) and am curious what my options are to get it here. I thought about flying over and driving it back, but I honestly don't want to put 3k miles on it and have it depreciate so much.

Ted O'Brien at Hanover Transport. 508.731.0774. They absolutely know what they're doing, you get car quickly, and they let you constantly know status. They did my 911 and it was superb experience.

Bought an 86 951 Turbo from a seller in IN.
Def did my due diligence before hand (back ground check & research on the seller, history of the car & documentation)...sent payment & arranged for shipping directly to my local Porsche dealer where the car is now going to have a full restoration.
Needles to say I'm very happy...

Would seem the perfect opportunity to drive the car and get to know it. Depreciation, seriously?

A road trip is good and fine, but 3k mls is probably overdoing it a bit - that's a(t least a) week on wheels with no incentives!

Also, not everybody has the time to spend a week on collecting a car!

I let the dealer/seller arrange for shipping. I did have contact with the driver to coordinate a drop point. It was on an uncovered transporter, and very dirty when it arrived. The one good tip he gave me, was to soak the entire car a few times with water, and keep it damp, before actually washing it. The car cleaned up very nicely, and there was no indication of any lasting damage from the transport. I think it was about $1100 to move the car from Detroit to Seattle.

Bought my 2011 C4S last August from Beachwood Porsche in ohio sight unseen except for many Hi rez pictures. 12,000 miles.
Delivered to metro Detroit in their covered trailer for free. The whole experience with them was top notch. Car was perfect.

I'm not sure what you're going to find out after mile 300 what you don't know already by then! ;-)

His concern wasn't the drive but the depreciation it would incur

And with a TTS it should take 2 days!
