I just started with drilling one 1/4" hole in the pre muffler pipe and found the perfect pitch, resonance and loudness after the fourth hole. Drilling on the bottom side allows for any morning condensation to drip out so my mufflers will last longer. Plus everytime I do my oil change I get to look at the sweet 4 hole pattern. I no longer get any water dripping fom my tail pipes on cold start up and no longer get any soot build up on the twin tips or the rear bumper of my car. I put blackened bubblegum in the holes when I have to go for my emissions test every other year.

I never thought of that . Instead I opted for 4 hiteck heavy duty vicegrips and clamped two coils togeter to get the car lowered the 1 inch. That way I can always return it to OEM in minutes. Although its a pita to get my hands in past the 305's on the rears

I did Gundo + center muffler bypass (x-pipes). I couldn't be happier with the sound.

There is a tad drone for me at 3700. By 4k none, I usually drive 4k plus so it is not a big thing. My wife has not said a thing and she is pretty picky about such odds and ends. I have had no one else say anything either. They are broken in now and sound very good, in my opinion.

If you have DFI engine it requires more so I would also go for Gundo plus x-pipes.
If it's s 997.1 it's enough with gundo and Cold air intake silicone tube/resonator delete. I have it in my car. No performance gain but just the right sound. Let me know if I should post movie clips.

If it's a .2, I vote for a Gundo hack and X-pipe. If you get the Billy Boat pipes (no affiliation), you'll have hundreds of Dollars left over to do more mods.

Exhaust
Hi,
In the midst of purchasing a 997 S with stock exhaust? What is the best bang for the buck? Looking to get PSE quality sound, I have $1500 to spend.
I have heard something about the "Gundo Hack" but can't seem to find a thread that explains exactly what it is, or directions for my local exhaust shop to follow.
anything else I should upgrade at that time? As I said, I have up to $1500 to do it right, don't want to cheap out, nor do I want to make several trips to the exhaust shop over time upgrading this and that. Time is always at a premium....
Open to used exhaust solutions as well. Headers? This is a street car, just looking for that rich flat-6 sound.
