I didn’t know that but now makes sense. That’s odd it’s fixed because it looks like is speed dependent like most other cars.

Ya honestly it seems like instead of reworking that rear panel, they just left it as is and up. Probably just removed the motor etc. $$ drives everything

Well, mine is up because the engine compartment purge fan is not working. With it being consistently in the triple digits, I need air in there until I can get the fan repaired.

2. It [is] programmed to deploy when engine compartment reaches a certain temperature
July 2018, I drove from LA to SD and my ambient temp gauge was at 120. It was about 6 months or so from when I got the car. I thought it was broken because the wing was stuck UP. I even parked to at a rest stop and it was still up even with the car off. I figured it died in the up position. I got to my destination, wing still up...went to dinner with friends and came back...wing down. 🤔🤔🤔 I read up on this and in certain cases, the wing will deploy when the temps reach a certain point. I have not driven in such circumstances since. Also, I fixed my climate control and sticky buttons, just for the record...lol. Also, note in these pics. the wing up button is lit, which is what made me pull off at a rest stop.

(oh, also, in the years since then, not only has this NOT happened again but the auto fan thing does. So, I will park, and then hear the fan doing its thing with the car off and locked).

...and for the record, I DO NOT like the look of the wing up.

My wife thinks these guys are over compensating for something. Pretty sure she's right.

Interesting what someone posted previously...is it true the fan will not go on if the wing is up? I put my wing up when it's really really hot out and I'm driving long distances as i figure it would get more air into the engine bay...but maybe i'm incorrect in this thinking

I read about someone who wiped the extended spoiler with a cloth and part of the cloth was sucked in. The fan does not work when the *hood* is open (for safety reasons) but I can control the fan with the spoiler extended.

I don't generally mess with it, goes up and down when needed. Turbo wing is noticeable even down, as a fan of the old 930 whale tail look I'm pro wing up. I do know turbo guys that had leaky cylinders just installed the screws to keep them up all the time, so the "must be broken" is kinda true. I think I may leave mine up from now on just because it seems to bother some porsche purists, I'm like that.

I never use the button, and just let it do its thing. I try to keep a low profile.

In the rare occasion that my wife takes it out , she loves to "flaunt the fin" so to speak, and drives with it up, and parks with it up. Cracks me up.

^^^This x 1000. If you track the car or do spirited drive frequently, the contsant up and down will cause eventual premature failure of the motor that puts it up and down. So just pop it up and keep it up until your session is over.
