There is a guy (911 Dave) on the 993 forum selling a Durametric (enthusiasts kit) for $225 used. Enthusiasts kit has a total of 3 Vin useage. One has been used, two left to use. Fwiw

I have tried & tested the iCarsoft POR-II on a 997 & 991 for main systems (engine, abs, airbags, transmission) plus oil service reset and worked fine.

These are the choices you get.

Just curious, what happens if you try to reset the "Service Now" alert, when the alert is inactive? In other words, can you reset it even when it doesn't need to be reseted?

I'm debating one of these x431r's as well and the way I read "MY (model yr I'm assuming) less than or equal to 07" means it will work fine on 05-06 997's. Am I off here?

I actually just purchased one. It came in Chinese! So I had to use an OCR to read the menu and get to the language menu. I removed my service required light (I forgot what it said, but basically my 60k mile service light). It has a menu item for steering angle, oil lamp (which is what I used), and one more option, I forgot what it said. I don't remember if it was airbag or not. The website does not indicate airbag light, but it might be the same as a service indicator light in function?

Yours is an 07 I see, so the mystery still remains if it will work on MY05 or 06.

Thanks..
By "worked fine" I assume you mean "it turned off the oil/service light reminder".

Not that it set the values for when that reminder should come on again, to a value I got to specify.

X-431 R...

I did a 2009 C2 this weekend and the results are below. The first pictures shows the mileage and "Service Now" alert active. After going through the scan tool steps, the last picture shows the same mileage but with the new extended time before service. Someone will have to test it out model year 2005/2006

so the durametric software needs a special cable, it won't work with a regular usb ODB2 cable?

Default x431

FYI:
I bought the Launch x431. When I went to use it I was getting an error message about the ECU.

Then I remembered my car was from Canada. When I put the units in as kilometers instead of miles it all worked just fine, except I needed to reset my digital speedometer back to miles per hour on the dash display when I was finished.

10,000 km's to my next oil service.

Durametric's software is free... anyone can download it. The cable is proprietary.
