Go for bold color. I saw front engine Ferrari Scaglietti yesterday with boring grey paint. Looked damn ordinary and, a few minutes later, saw a white Maserati Ghibli that looked way more striking. My guess is people would have thought the Ghibli was the Ferrari. Then again this is coming from an artic silver guy.

Love the guards red. I looked for one but settled for atlas grey. I did use it on my 69 Camaro...lots of attention...and tickets.

I think it's very personal. To me, 997 does NOT look good in Red, while many love it. 991 looks better, and older cars look good in red too but I just never liked 997 in Red, either it's the shade of red, or how it matches the shape.

To me, 997 looks best in White, Gray, Silver, Blue.

But at the end of the day, if you found your ideal car in Red, and you do like the color... just go for it!

I love Red and couldn't find it with specs that I want for a long time, so I had to settle with my 2nd choice.

I might trade my black 09 4s (18.5K miles) with you if you can find a Guards Red with similar condition and spec as mine. I am in Los Angeles too.

Edit: Sorry I did not see that the OP wanted the convertible. I retract my offer to trade.

Are you throwing off on my car? I do have deviating carpet...thank goodness. It is a lot of red but I get a lot of compliments on the interior, especially from Porsche people. Maybe they just feel sorry for me.

As for a GR 997, I love em.

We have our Atlas Grey 997, a Diamond Pearl White E63 and a Chili Red JCW MINI. While this is not scientific, based on the times I am stopped or asked about each of these the 997 gets noticed by older male car nuts, the E63 gets noticed by male car nuts of all ages and the bright red MINI gets glowing compliments from women and younger guys.

Hypotheses based on the above: your 997 will get noticed by older guys regardless of the color, and if it is red, women may notice it more than a black-grey-silver 997.

Something different to consider: I have had a bright red Maserati Coupe and this bright red MINI and bright red has been a harder color to maintain than the white-silver-grey cars I've had.

The only sports/race car I'd consider in red is a Ferrari.

I was likewise, then the wife saw an avorio (ivory) Ferrari and a cream 911. Both with chocolate/brown interiors. And, that was the end of the story. Now, her Benz & my 911 are red (picked by me) and our Ferrari is avorio (picked by her). The pickup truck is, however, white because this is Texas and some unwritten laws cannot be violated. OP... if the color floats ya boat, go for it and forget about what other people think...T

I think the Red is too much, two-tone ones with Black leather on the top dash and windows makes a big difference to balance things out but I don't think that was offered in 997.2 years on Turbo cars only.

I understand completely what you are saying and I love seeing the interiors that are close to mine. When I found this car on line I loved the Meteor immediately and could not imagine why anyone would go with red there. My wife was against it as she thought it was hideous. (She drives a GR Boxster...to pretend to care about the OP's thread at this point ) Well when I got to it in person, both me and the wife fell in love with it and the interior perfectly sets the car off. I cannot explain how different it looks in person as the tone and deepness of it is simply not captured on camera and believe me.....I have tried to.
