Yes his car has more power than stock, nobody would deny that. But it's very unlikely he's getting 50% more than what Porsche can do with the X51 option using bolt on mods only.

The only way to "bolt on" 85 HP to a 997 non-turbo car is by adding forced induction - either turbo or supercharger, but if not done correctly (compression has to be lowered, cooling has to be increased, intake air temp has to be taken after the air is compressed since that adds heat and the DME needs to adapt to the air densitiy, etc, etc) will cause certain early engine death.
My RUF Kompressor C2S I estimate has about 450-475 HP - RUF rated it at 435 but their figures are always conservative so in it's original form was probably closer to 450. I have a different intake and full Exhaust so it breathes better than when I got it - I can actually feel the difference so it might be closer to 475 as it would hard to feel much of a difference with only 10-15 HP gain when you're already at 450, as it's like 2%.
Some day I'd like to put it on a dyno just to see what the number actually is, but it doesn't really matter to me as it's the only car I've ever had where I've said - "it's fast enough and doesn't need more power". With the upgraded HP, suspension mods, and ceramic brakes, it's very balanced in all respects.
However, there is a black car on the forums here that has forced induction, and I think maybe it was a launch car - maybe Ynot or Psymon as a user name, but I don't recall where those guys are located, though they both have very cool cars.

Why do you want to do this ? You are going to scuff and out of round the cylinders early, and the rod bolts can't take it. The engine is a package, and all parts have to be engineered for a specific sustained output. This is not a small block chevy.

lol, sorry that is not going to happened. Years ago, someone from 6speedonline spent over $10K on bolt-ons, headers, exhaust, air filters, tune, etc. Drum roll please.................... He had a before and after dyno, he gained about 5hp lol. He said, it sounds better and felt faster, his butt dyno had him thinking he made a lot more hp than it actually did. Porsche did a great job in extracting as much hp as they can, unless it's FI, there's no way of getting 85hp with bolt-ons.

If you are into HP wars wrong car.. buy a z06 or the new Camaro ZL1 or hell the old ZL1.
There are so many cars that outperform the 911 (especially 997.1) if text book talking is your thing.
Once you get on a race track though...oh boy our cars are a beast (confidence in the package and engineered to be Balanced)

Any really smart engine guys here? I don't know enough about engines to even make an educated guess on if this is even possible. So, you have a water cooled flat 6 M96/97 engine. How much HP can you realistically get from this without super or turbocharging. Pistons, Cam, Boring, Exhaust, flash and these are not bolt on obviously. How can you push this 355 hp (shaft) engine to 440 hp (shaft) without blowers? Just a thought question if anyone cares.

You'd bore and stroke the motor to reasonable limits...probably 4.2l or so.
You're having heads hogged out, bigger valves, stronger springs.
Lightweight pistons, titanium rods, probably lightened crank. super high compression.
extensive intake mods, potenitally just a custom intake.
headers, cat delete, potentially even muffler delete.
Aggressive tune
That should get it done, but it would probably not be too pleasant to drive on the street.

^^^ And when you're talking to someone who has done all that, they'll probably mention a dyno, and talk up (or down) their engine builder... and they'll be less likely to leave you remembering words like 'intake' and 'cat back'.

Read about the BBi RS 4.2 'yoda' build on the GT3 forum. It has basically what quad went through here and is an interesting read IMO.
