Default +85 HP on a 997.1S with simple bolt ons?

OK, I have been trying to figure this out since the weekend, but I don't think it is possible, but perhaps you guys can shed more light.

Over the weekend I was at Cars and Coffee Aliso Viejo (OC). An older guy pulled up in a 2005 black 997S. It was lowered with H&Rs and had PCCB on Black Fuchs Replicas. As I started asking him how he likes the car and what he did to it, he said that it was a "launch car" and that is why it had all the options (PCCB, etc...).

I asked him what he did to the car and he said that he is getting 85 more HP out of it, my first reply/question was "X51 power kit?" (which didn't make sense either since that is a 381hp, not 85 more). He said "no", then popped the trunk and told me what he did (not sure if I remember everything). Anyway, he added a 2 cone style CAI (fabspeed most likely) and explained to me that he has a larger throttle body, plenum, and maybe a couple other little things. I said, "wow, you sure its adding another 85HP?" (clarifying that he wasn't saying 385hp) and he said, "oh, ya, at least". Then he went on to explain that he use to race for porsche (no idea what that means). I didn't want to question him too much as it was obvious that he knew much more about his car than I did, but I still can't figure out how there would be a series of bolt on mods that would come close to a 85hp increase without going FI.

He really seemed dialed into the whole porsche seen, so perhaps he is a member here or someone knows him and the mods that have been done to get 85hp more power, i'd love to know.

Anyone know what mods he might be talking about?

Headers, cats, mufflers.

Intake

gt3 TB, IPD 82mm Plenum

Really good dyno tune. Prob would assume 85hp to the crank. Not wheels.

I know it's as old as the internet and NSFW language, but ...

Companies advertise the added HP that a certain mod will provide. 1) their estimates are high and 2) the sum of added mods are not cumulative. Meaning you cannot add the 8 hp from the intake to the 15 hp from the sport cat etc. I'd assume an increase of bolts ons is about 35 to 40 is maximum without forced induction.

With easy bolt-ons? no way. If it was that easy, Porsche would have made the car that way.. the didn't for a reason.

Realistically I think someone with solid mods can get almost 400hp out of a 355hp C2s

I have Tubi headers and Exhaust, gt3TB, Plenum, Giac TUNE and feel safe telling people I have about 385hp...

85HP gain, nope. That said, if an old timer told me he had 200hp of bolt ons and believed it himself I would have a great conversation with him, compliment him on his car and wish him the best with his fine automobile!

the 05 launch cars with PCCB are pretty neat...

so intake+GT3 TB + IPD 82mm Plenum+Tune=85HP at the crank???

so those little items bring the 997.1 CS to 440hp at the crank? I still don't buy it, isn't the 997.1 GT3 415 HP at the crank. So adding a few little GT3 items gets the HP above and beyond the actual factory prepped GT3?

Nope, lol. He likely added up all the manufacturer claims and came up with that number and...it's completely wrong. Guessing he's added on perhaps 30 max.

I am sure he has achieved some incremental improvements with those modifications, but the +85hp figure is inaccurate.

Getting sucked into debates at CC events is never satisfying. Just nod politely and move along.
