My GT3RS 4.25 Build by BBI Autosport - Project Yoda
Some of you already know, but for those that don't I wanted to start a thread here documenting the build of my 2008 GT3RS. This car has easily been the best car I've ever owned. I've had it since June of 2012, prior to which it was owned by datax on this forum. Late last year I started thinking about building the car out a bit. One thing led to another, and the project has snowballed quite a bit.
The car is mostly street driven with half a dozen track days thrown in per year. I already had the coolant lines welded, 4.0 clutch installed, Wevo mounts, cup shifter cables, an Akrapovic Sports Cup exhaust, GT2 seats, and a few other things done.
The first thing I thought about doing was building the engine out. I contacted BBI Autosport who had done the majority of the previous work on the car and we devised a plan to build it out to 4.25l using custom Carrillo rods, Mahle pistons, and a Factory 4.0 RSR crank. Of course this would require head work, custom cams, a new intake, a custom exhaust, and more. More on the engine build later.
In the meantime, I started thinking about what other supporting mods I wanted to add in anticipation of the engine build. I had seen a car that Leh Keen had posted in Germany, a green 997.1 RS with BBS cup style center locks, and knew that's the direction I wanted to go. We decided to convert the car to centerlock using the 997.2 cup hardware. I ordered a set of BBS E07 wheels in 19" finished in gold with a polished lip, again inspired by the Germany car.
With the uprights out for the CL hub installation, we also decided to upgrade to the Ohlins TTX dampers. BBI also completed their Street Cup package on the car, adding cup hardware and monoball joints basically everywhere.
The car is now affectionately called Project Yoda. The first phase of the build was completed at the end of January. The car is now back at BBI and the engine build is underway. I'm going to keep updating this thread as the build progresses. I'm really excited to see and drive the final product.

Now that the car is back at BBI, the engine build is underway. The engine was pulled and disassembled. The cases were sent off to machine, and assembly of the parts is underway. Here are a few pics of the process.
And some pics of the new hardware.

It's against forum policy to post ****!!!
This one is worth watching.
The last few weeks when I've been at the shop, I get to drool over the progress of Akara's build. I use BBI for all my work and outside the center locks (I opted to stay 5 lug BBS for track use), brakes (Brembo steel for track), and TTX (WANT TTX, I have Ohlins Singles) .... oh and that engine - our builds are identical.
Look forward to the results!!!!

Congrats on a fantastic build! BBS Gold FTW
Question, I have the same dimensions in my build 105.4x80.4 and I get 4.2L, did you offset grind the crank or offset the pins in the pistons to get a teeny bit extra stroke for the 4.25?
Excited to see it go!

This is all your fault! First you post that german car, then you go and build a 4.0 frog. Believe me, I'm beyond excited.
