Default Carfax questions.

Was this 997.2 a demo at dealer? Owner #1 Tires at 3000 miles? Vehicle offered for sale by dealer 5x in 4 years?

Owner#3 10k miles in 3 months and sold? 4/29--7/28 is 3 months not 2.

Is your question whether you should buy this car or not?

Questions are as stated in OP. The first owner (dealer?) was offered for sale multiple times in 4 years but never titled under new owners?

As long as the title is legit and the car checks out (PPI) I don't think the Carfax matters.

Car was demo. Is there diminished value on purchase price/resale and what percentage?

Patrick does not sell Porsche...... hmmm....... I suspect the dealership owner drove the car as theirs. I've seen this before when I was shopping for a used Porsche. A BMW dealer in OH had an '09 for sale and noted 25K miles.... when I drove it there was like 29K..... and the car was off the market and then back on about a year later with way more miles. When I test drove it, they had to wash it because the "owner was driving it".

The CarFaxes are confusing as was the one for my car. I don't know how the VW dealer shows as the first owner.... odd..... Patrick is VW and Subaru.

Peace

I can't agree more how confusing a Carfax can be.

A clean Carfax means nothing. You could drive a car into a river and as long as you don't report it the police or insurance - CLEAN CARFAX! A+

You can report it to insurance and still have a clean CarFax report. CF is just a giant scam that turns people off decent cars and gives them a false sense of security on real dogs.

Our 996 has 5 insurance claims on it, yet CF shows nothing. My 958 has a claim on it, but it also shows as clean. These were all multiple years (over a decade for a couple on the 996) before the latest reports were run. Even worse is that I know 2 of the 996's accidents used to show up, but are gone now.

CarMax is often a dumping ground for cars with problems that enlightened Porsche owners are aware of, but that CarMax may not be. You don't have to be buying a car from CarMax in order to trade in a current car - they'll buy them outright and also find some at auctions. The ownership history on this one seems odd - why go down the path with this particular car when there are so many available to choose from?

Crap, you're right - my bad. I'll just call it a PSA on Carmax.

Yes, RAC in Dallas did it at 7k miles when they were still the RUF distributor in the US.
