Default Emblem help

Ok, so I know it's not an earth shattering problem to have, but while washing the car a couple days ago, the drying towel got caught on the C in Carrera. The result is seen below. I can obviously replace it with the same emblem, but I was thinking of replacing it with the darker graphite silver (from suncoast) or removing the entire emblem and leaving the back of the car blank. The exterior color is Atlas gray. Any thoughts? Any one have pics of a 997 without the script on the back? Thanks in advance for your .02 cents.
Cheers, David

My color is similar to yours (Meteor) and have thought about the same but I think the wheels, Exhaust and script are enough a like that I am not gonna change mine.

Just debadge the sucker. Using dental floss, simply floss between the emblem and body of the car. That will cut much of the adhesive and then remove the rest using goo gone or tar remover. Or heat it up with a hair dryer to make it easy to pick the adhesive off with your fingers. Don't use anything sharp or pointy.

Leave it debadged for a week or so...if you don't like the look order the emblem (I'd go with black if available).

Debadge it. They look great that way. Cleaner, neater, and easier to keep clean and neat. No one who knows what it is needs a badge to tell, and anyone who who needs to see the badge to know what it is, won't care anyway. If you're into Concours (or tradition) then you do of course need it. But in that case you'd not be asking about blasphemous alternative colors. So ditch it.

Thanks for the responses so far. I am leaning to de-badging it, I have to get the script off anyway if I am going to fix it right? The few pics I have seen of 911's without the badge look good to me. Will see if I run into the "ghosting" emblem issue or not. I enjoy going to concours, but am definitely not into displaying my car. Porsche tradition is another matter. I do like the Carrera script better than putting 911 in it's place. Will take a pic when I het around to getting the badge off. Thanks again!

Default Emblem help

I debadged my rear years ago and i think it looks great. Has anyone tried debadging the P crest from the hood? I believe there are 2 prongs on the crest and not sure on to fill in the holes once removed...then a paint over the filler... Too much effort.

There are 2 nuts with sealer underneath the hood that will unscrew from the crest posts. Most likely you will be able to see the outline of the crest once removed from scratches and tiny dirt particles that are under it, and it will leave 2 holes, like you said. I'd leave it or change the color if you don't like the stock crest. There's a guy who does custom hood crests using all kinds of different colors and materials (cerakote, filled crests, etc) - advertises on the classifieds every holiday.

I don't really like the gold crest on my black and silver cars so have done monochrome options on my black 914 & 928 and a RUF badge on my R-Kompressor. I actually added crests to the rear of my cars - I like them - others don't. It's your car - do what you like.

Did this one to mask the trunk lock

Did these on the engine grill. Crest matches the one on the front.

I de-badged mine and prefer the look. That said, if you decide you don't like it, I have the scripting off my car in excellent condition that I'd be happy to send you.

same thing happened to me before

i took the whole emblem off..
(hair dryer & floss.. then goo-be-gone to clean.. followed by a soap & water with rinse.. buff with instant wax)

and even contemplated leaving it as is.. (pic 2) did not like the empty space

decided to put on the black '911' emblem i bought from eric @ bumperplugs a while back.

very easy to put on once u center it.. (pic 3)

and Voila ! (pic 4)

i think i will leave it like this for a while then probably go back to the original 'Carrera S' in silver.

Jglaze, thank you for the offer. I will let you know once I take the old badge off. Gapbound1, I do like the subtle matching of the badge to the exterior paint. Crazycarlitos, yours looks almost exactly like what happened to mine!
