The Tranzit BLU HF can do that as well for far less than $100 but without the OEM headunit integration. It is up to you as to whether it is worth over 8x as much for the OEM unit.

I agree 8X times is too much.

Seems like Tranzit BLU Bluetooth is integrated to PCM thru FM modulation, Few questions:

* Is it necessary to tune the radio to a frequency for Tranzit BLU to work? (what if listening to different FM station and phone call comes in..)

* Will it receive/send phone calls while radio/PCM power is off?

Thx.

I am far from the expert as many others on the board already have the product installed but my understanding is that the radio must be tuned to the specific frequency to get any sound out of the product, regardless of whether it is phone call or music. My understanding is that if the PCM is off even if it does send and receive phone calls you will not be able to converse with the other party since it relies on the PCM to transmit the caller's voice to you.

With that said, I have the stock bluetooth handsfree module on my 997.2 and I am not sure if it would allow me to talk with the PCM off. Never tried it.

Suncoast service quoted $325 for installing the Bluetooth kit. So enabling OEM Bluetooth feature total cost including install is around $850.

Thanks,
Did Suncoast indicate if that kit includes the installation of the microphone in the instrument cluster, because the microphones and their placement are critical to the quality of the phone call via the hands free profile (HFP) over bluetooth.

SunCoast parts guy said, kit includes microphones, wires and Activation code (download for any Porsche dealer).

Thanks.

Excellent. I'm assuming the mic gets positioned similar to the way the OEM integration is, up in the instrument cluster area, and not clipped up by the visor or some such thing.

I have the parts and am about to put the iSimple (tranzit) bluetooth for music streaming in my 997.2.

This thread is what I'm going to follow to do it. Seems people have success pretty much across the board with this and the quality is excellent since it's not just an "FM over the air", but rather hardwired directly to the antenna.

I couldn't find any 997.2 guys in that thread that tried it, please report back on how it works and any complications with install. Also, is an extra harness needed or just the unit?

Thanks!

Blu: I thought it was in that thread but I can't find it. Somewhere there is a thread with a 997.2 guy that did the install. Has pictures and everything. Things are pretty much the same between the 997.1 and 997.2 install. No extra equipment needed.

Thanks, I actually found it in that thread when I looked at it again. For the 997.2 pics, go to page 4

That's it, don't know how I overlooked it. Looks like only thing significantly different might be which wire to tap if you don't use the add a fuse method. I hope to install mine this weekend.
