I always though that it would have been a good idea that Porsche would have designed the little LED light on the dash button to illuminate when extended at speed, not just when parked and you pressed the button. Crazy people like myself would like to know if its up and running and fully deployed (before taking a high speed turn and insuring you got downforce). Its a confidence thing
Engine compartment temperature
under 122 °F/55 °C
Spoiler extends at 75 mph/120 km/h and
retracts at 37 mph/60 km/h.
Engine compartment temperature
over 140 °F/60 °C
Spoiler extends at 50 mph/80 km/h and retracts
at 19 mph/30 km/h.
Sorry for the dumb question but I thought the spoiler had only to do with aerodynamics, not engine cooling. There is a solid accordion bellows around the spoiler when it's up, and the louvers are fixed. Does the angle make a difference in how much air gets into the engine bay?
And as to knowing if it's up and at what speed, just ask the cop when he pulls you over. He probably has video on his dash cam
Mine extends when the speed shows exactly 77 MPH. it won't move if I'm at 75 on the highway and hold it there. It retracts at about 40, which from the chart could be 37.5 or maybe my speedo is off by 2 MPH and the spoiler circuit gets the car's speed from a different sensor than the speedo does.
If you use the console button to raise it, it will stay up until you use the button to close it. But if you are saying it raises automatically at speed and stays up, even after coming to a full stop, you have a problem.
Good point. Here's the screen capture from Durametric Pro rear module coding. Spoiler Function is Active/Not Active. The other three spoiler settings are Yes/No. In this capture the spoiler is disable due to a fixed wing. But you can see there are no settings to control up and down separately.

It can get stuck. Mine did this a few years ago and I was about to tear into it, when I saw a post about a couple of small holes near the struts for lube. I think a couple of squirts of WD-40 fixed it. No issues since - knock on wood.
Also, to see it up, I can raise up in my seat and just see the edge of it coming up in rear glass - barely.
