That's what I get for waiting a couple of days and not refreshing my page from yesterday! The sale was probably in the works anyway. I'm in no rush thankfully. The 997.2's price arc seems to be level on manuals for the moment. There wasn't much haggle on that one probably either.

Several cars here in the marketplace have been priced in the mid 20's with higher miles, in the 997.1 gen. The depreciation curve may steepen on some of these cars at higher mileage: most P-car enthusiasts tend to be on the well-heeled side, and it is impossible to get a loan for an older car like this at any rate, so a car like this eliminates a lot of buyers right there. Those with cash often prefer a low 40k mile car for, say $10,000 more. I wouldn't shy away from a 110k mile car, but if I can find one for mid 30's with less than 1/2 of the miles, I would also likely go that route. It is the same rationale between the .1 and .2: most who can afford to do so will pony up the extra $5-10k and get gen 2.

If you can find a clean manual 997.2 C4S with 50k miles, a reasonable "private party" deal would be between 52-55k. Expect to pay 3-4k more at a dealer. I wouldn't pay over $60,000 for a C4S unless the options were stellar and the mileage low. I have seen several in the low 50's, but they move in a couple of days. I am sure Isringhausen and Holt would list such a car for $65k and sit on it for 2 years. The good cars that are reasonably priced move fast: those that are overpriced sit forever, as the market is well educated on pricing. The exception may be some sort of rare build (Aqua Blue aerokit, for example).

Agreed. Just bought a C4S after a good two year search.

What was it (mileage, options, C4S I got) and what were they asking?

Good driver opportunity perhaps? It looks overpriced initially, as it has "new" damage from some point in the past, and also had to have the front bumper refinished and some new hardware underneath due to running over a parking lot curb, but a friend looked into it and said the guy is flexible on price. What do you think? Mid 30's?

Found it still listed on Autoblog. Nice build. MSRP $108.

$59.5/ 51k miles/ Full Black Leather/ SPASM/ Chrono+/ Meteor Gray Metallic

No PSE but it wasn't offered in early 2009 (this was a 12/08 build).

around 50k miles is the sweet spot..since you can sell/trade in at 75k miles and still get something back. Buying at 75k plus miles and dumping at 100k plus will bring peanuts..Ideally we want to collect and keep forever but since we no Jay Lenos we will have to wait/haggle and have patience. Also the market is poised for a recession and many indicators/pundits are forecasting a deep recession in 2020 starting in mid 2019.. Wonder how all this is going to play out next couple years..

Wow! This listing really got my attention. I have no affiliation with this car or the dealer. I prefer a cab and I love this color; hell, I have this color 997.2 C4S Cab. If it was two years from now, when our home loan will be finished, I would check this one out, but for now, I promised the wife that the mortgage goes away before I buy another sports car.

Have a look at the specs and mods. IMHO it's spectacular.

I think people are being overly mileage obsessed. These cars depreciate with the mileage driven. I think the rule of thumb at this price range is 2.5 to 3k per 10k miles. If you buy a car with 30k and drive it to 60k you will lose around 8k a value. The car I bought for 45 with 60 will be worth maybe 38 with 90k. A 997 will always be worth something even with high mileage. A 109k mile 997.2 C2S sold on bringatrailer for 37k a couple weeks ago. Bottom line I have learned to just drive my car as the DD that it is and when I sell it I will get what I get.

Agreed! Buy what you can afford, save for some repairs, don't overpay and drive it like any other car.

This is simply not true. Many Credit Unions will loan on an old car with high mileage. PenFen FCU and NASA FCU, as well as, Lightstream all have competitive rates.
