some decades ago, the owner of Remington Shavers, had this really great commercial, which I like to paraphrase. His advertisement for his electric shaver was "the first blade shaves incredibly close, the second blade, even closer." Great line.
Now as for engine oils, I am no expert on what is best, but remember when I was in Germany in the early '70's with the Army, and Mobil 1 just came out, our sports car club, which had a number of Porsche owners, began to hear about wiped bearings when using that new oil, probably from just too thin a bearing film at autobahn speeds. And when the multiweight oils began to come out in the mid '60's, implying it was not necessary to change out st wt 30 oil to 10 wt for winter. I failed to do that in my '63 TR4, and wiped my bearings on a cold Nebraska morning, and then drove the 1100 miles from Lincoln to DC with zero oil pressure, that vintage tractor TR's motor making it, sounding like a diesel, and needing a rebuild when i got home. And recall what the innards of motors looked like before detergents were added to oils.
Now, as for what is best for vintage or modern Porsche motors, I leave that up to the seasoned, knowledgable folks. All my family's motors are modern, so are have high quality synthetics in their sumps. My 125K mile Jag just returned a superlative Blackstone analysis, with all parameters much better than normal or expected. I have always run Mobil 1 or Redline in it.
All the best.....

Update: I DID NOT change out the sensor. After 2 weeks using Mobil 0-40 my gauge is still reporting perfect o p. cold 5, warm idle 1.5, hot idle 1.2, 3-4000+ 5. I have to conclude the viscosity of the batch of Motul 5-40 I got was incorrect. Excessive oil pressure cannot be a good thing. I can no longer recommend.
