Reporting Problem W Motul 5-40
Been using Motul 5-40 for years. Last fill done with X-Cess, prior ones were X-Clean as I recall. Immediately noted oil pressure gauge remained pegged even when warm at idle. Was about to replace gauge but saw a post by fellow user describing same experience. Changed out oil today after 1000 miles forMobil 0-40. Oil pressure now is reading as 'normal', 5 on start, 1.5 idle warm, 3-5/rpms on road.
I have no idea what this means regarding Motul X-Cess or rest of line. I am concerned about long term effect of high o p esp since oem setup will bypass
filter under certain conditions.
Any thoughts here?

Been using X-cess for 2 oil changes. On first change my pressure gauge started acting weird and I suspected the oil (previously had Mobil1).
Replaced pressure sensor/sender at last oil change - again with Motul X-cess and pressure readings are back where they should be.
So I don't think it was the oil. But it is strange that we both experienced a sensor failure when the oil was changed.

5w/40w X-Cess is what I've been using. I'm sure that's what's on the approved list. I've never heard of X-Clean.

Same issue when I first filled with motul. 4-3 bars first couple days. Now at 1.5k miles it's at 2 bar when at normal operating temp. Noticed a couple times just under 2. Seems to be no oil consumption compares to M1, which was low anyway. Will be interesting to see the the UOA when it's time for the next change.

Why use anything but Mobil-1? Lesser oils for lesser cars, I say.
If you're worried about oil sometimes bypassing the filter you might want to look into this http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...ENGoil_pg1.htm
