Default driveway rebuild

Hey Guys, I finally started another Porsche project to finish over the wintertime. Picked up a 2008 c2 with 30k miles for next to nothing, and so far its coming together nicely. Had to reshape the front corner of the frame a tiny bit, replace radiators, supports, and AC condenser, hood latch, airbag sensors, lines, all the wiring and fuel filling hose, some minor suspension work, and about 20 other things. Turned out to be a lot more work, and more fun than I anticipated. I'm also upgrading to a 997.2 front. still have a ways to go to finish up. Parts totaled $2,300, mostly used and this forum, as always, has helped me out a TON!!!! Thanks to everyone who posts.

I wish. It was salvaged by an insurance co. But it's in beautiful condition, loaded with every option. and I'll only be into it 22k or so all said and done. And it will be updated a bit. Adding wheels, and a few other mods, Plus I got a used 991 steering wheel and airbag with PDK since the airbag was blown. Haven't tackled that yet, but shouldn't be too bad. Plus I'm having my paint guy do the console and trim to match the car. I'll drive it a few years, and I bet I'll still get 20 if I keep it in good shape. It's drives perfectly. But I love it! Always wanted a 997, sold my 996 a year ago, and miss it all the time.

if needed, i know of a full 997.2 front end - bumper, tow hook, leds, all 3 lips, grills, retainer frame, centre duct, headlight washers, hoses, for 800 cdn (approx 600 USD). located in ottawa ontario... u would have to pay for shipping + duties but its totally wroth it. i wish i had bought it for my 997.2 conversion but i only saw the ad lately (and don't want to see these deals goto waste).

the only thing u would need to buy would be the 997.2 rad shroud ducting (2 pieces) as well as the LED cable looms from the dealer.

i have the wiring diagram as well if you need as I've done both front + rear 997.2 conversion.

Wow that's a great price. I bought mine already used and new different sources. You never realize how many parts there are until you start pulling things apart. I'm at almost 40 parts so far for this rebuild, lol.

I would love the wiring diagram for the mini looms to the new lights. Thanks so much!!!

New steering wheel and Airbag installed plus some new LLoyd Mats. Still needs a detail... Got the 2013 wheel used fro $175.00 mint, and the Bag was $500.00 I went with a dark gray one as I like the contrasting look a lot better, even though its not a stock look... Its a simple install, pop out the airbag thru a hole on the underside, use a 12 mm multi star tool, pop out the wiring harness, swap and re-install. literally a 10 min job, and It mad a huge improvement. shifters and horn work perfectly.

Nice work.

Don't fret that it's a salvage (if, by chance, you are). There is a certain, liberating feeling driving a car like that: New door ding - so what. If someone gives you a parking lot fender-bender - big deal! You're not concerned with its virginity.

Have fun with it!!

I've had a few salvage cars, and you're absolutely right, plus even salvage 997's hit a wall at the $20k mark if in great condition with low miles, so I will still be able to sell it in a few years and have spent basically nothing to own and drive it. You can't beat a free Porsche...!!! -Minus the millions of hours Ive spent working on it, lol... But I actually enjoy it.

So the 991 wheel bolted on without the need for a steering wheel module swap to get the horn working?

That conflicts with what many have experienced regarding steering wheel swaps.

Nice work. I have been looking, although not to hard. I would like to find an earlier P car to restore. I know it is not real cost effective. I own a building in C.M. and have a body shop and a german mechanic leasing there.
Oh, BTW, when I say I would like to restore, I mean "manage" the restore.
