Default 997 Narrow body Deep Lip Forged wheels?

Ok, I'm thinking of taking the plunge into a set of 2 or 3 piece forged wheels. Only issue is, I'm having a hard time finding anyone who has a set on a narrow body car that are not concave or flush face. There is a ton of wide body cars with deep lips, D2 forged has about 20 on there site, but no narrow body cars?

Don't tell me 44mm is keeping people from running a wide wheel out back on the narrow body cars?

Here is a pic for reference of the wheel style I am talking about:

And if you like the Rugers consider Porsche's own Sport Classic wheels:

Are you just looking for pictures or are you having trouble finding wheels that will work? Most are custom ordered. Take a look at BC Forged.

Here is the car that I recently purchased. It is a NB with Kinesis F110 which are no longer made but pop up on EBAY.

My opinion: deep concave wheels where the outer edges of the spokes come to the face of the wheel look great, like on the red car in the photo you posted. Deep inset flat faces with deep polished lips look very '80s to me.

There was someone who bought a set of wheels for their white C2S on a closeout that were brushed and cleared. They were like those on the red car. I believe he has or had them up for sale a few weeks ago and they may be D2 brand. Had I not just polished and cleared my Champions, I would have snatched them up. See if you can find the ad / thread as it will save you a few thousand. Just send me 25% of what you save vs new

Too much bling for me.

Flat lips look cheap, imo. Stepped lips are stronger and less prone to pothole damage.

Even if they are forged, they'll still weigh a ton, especially with multi-piece wheels. For what it's worth, most of the wheels for our cars are custom made, in this style, anyway. I think the made-in-China, off-the-shelf, multi-piece look wheels will get you 70% of the way there, but they still don't look right.

I looked at the thread this morning on my phone and didn't notice that all the wheels pictured have a protruding polished lip. The better look IMO is not any of those, but rather the style in these photos of the white turbo.

Also, I'm not sure you want to go with D2 - looks like they sometimes have delivery issues - http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...ed-wheels.html
and this isn't the only thread like this.

I went a different route with some Champion RS171s, that I then had polished and cleared. They are super light and super strong. The hub treatment is the standout feature on these wheels whith the organic curves emanating from the center and curving out to the lip - I think they're stunning and Champion forged wheels are excellent quality - made in Japan, not China. My car is the Silver one.

I would recommend focusing on ADV.1 Track Function and Track Spec Series . The track function has a more traditional lip design with a flatter face and the track speck has a large lip with concave spokes extending to the edge of the lip.

If concave doesn't bother you, you can get the biggest lip and the deepest concave for a really wild look with the ADV1 Deep concave series.

The beauty of ADV1 is that you can get any spoke design you want, with any style face and lip. Truly customize-able so you can run them with the correct fitment on your car.

Track Speck

Track Function

Deep Concave

And for 1/4 the cost of ADV.1 you can custom order from any other manufacturer as well.

Question

I definitely want to go with a flat faced wheel and a deep polished lip.

I have seen guys running the turbo offset wheels on some cars. I found a local seller that has some 20" 360 forged wheels that came off his 997 turbo. How bad would they stick out?

22mm difference on each side right?

Again in my Opinion, 20" wheels don't look right on the 997, they're too big and make for too small a sidewall on the tire, but if you're going for the wide polished lip, maybe the big wheel look is also what you're looking for.

Here's a link to a very useful wheel fitment caclulator (http://www.willtheyfit.com/) that lets you enter your current wheel sizes and offsets and an althernative and then shows you the result - sticks out X amount further, center of wheel is located Y amount different, etc You might find playng around with this to be useful.

Thank you...

I'm not stuck on 20" just found a nice set for a steal. The wheels in those D2 forged wheel gallery are all 20". I just though it would fill the fender well better. If I track it I would be putting on a set of beat up 18" Fiske that I have. These will be just for the "pretty" factor...LOL

I agree with petza that 20's don't look right on the 997. I don't like them on the 991 either for that matter. Champion RS98 or RG5 might work for you http://www.championmotorsport.com/Se...ts.asp?Cat=248
