msingh5649 and bommerts: I agree, that what I was quoted seems high. I guess I need to shop around a bit. I've never been one to buy any kind of extended warranty on anything, so this is new territory for me. Thanks for the help!

I would call fidelity and ask for local dealers that sell it. Or elsewhere here, i found a couple of good recommendations for Mr. Jourdan @ mossy motors in New orleans. Call him and get the quote. He knows he is mentioned on Rennslist, so it is to his benefit to be fair.

Extended warranties for me as well are not something i do normally. I do them on cars within reason, depending on the brand. Lexus, Porsche, or BMW-I bought as the service costs are ridiculously high, and in some cases there are no alternatives than dealership.

On Honda, Toyota, I haven't bought anything, as they are relatively 'simple' but there are always it seems, a lower cost alternative (independent service).

That philosophy has served me well so far. I have always broken even on the Extended warranty or CPO if it was an option.

Just my thoughts. Good luck.

I guess I started thinking about getting an extended warranty on the 997 because earlier this year, my VW had a rear main seal leak, resulting in needing a new water pump, timing cover, oil separator...$2,700. And of course, it just missed the end of my powertrain warranty coverage, which ended just 6 months prior. If I had an extended warranty, it would have paid for itself with that one service visit.

I'll call Fidelity to ask for dealers to contact for quotes. Hopefully, I find something that works for me. Thanks for the help! Your reasoning makes sense. Warranty the cars with higher service costs.

Try this Buick/GMC dealer if you are shopping for Fidelity warranty, I was told this dealer will only charge their cost + $50. Worth a shot.

msingh5649 and Pors968: Thanks for the info on Michael Jourdan. I sent him an email today, and will let you all know when I hear back. I also texted Andrew Luong at Alhambra VW (another name I've seen here in this thread). He immediately responded and said he'd get back to me on Friday because he's out of the office until then.

Got my quotes for the Fidelity Platinum Warranty w/$250 Deductible for '09 C4S 55K

Mossy Motors / Alhambra VW
1Yr / 12K 2756
2Yr / 24K 3773
3Yr / 36K 5346 / 5919
4Yr / 48K 7048 / 7962
5Yr / 60K 8417 / 9604

So, how do these warranties work? Do you present a Member ID card at the shop and the shop gets paid directly from Fidelity for warranteed work? Or do you pay for all service costs upfront and then file for reimbursement from Fidelity?

When you take your car with any issues covered under the warranty plan to a P dealer, the dealer will communicate and obtain approval from Fidelity and they will handle any coverage costs. You'll just pay for your deductible, etc.

I just bought a Fidelity Platinum warranty through Troy for my 2012 Cayenne Turbo. He was slightly cheaper than Michael Jourdan. Everyone else was priced significantly higher.

Thanks VG257! Have you had to use yours and if so, are you happy with it?

So far I'm 1 year and about 4000 miles into my extended warranty, only had a horn that was not working claim to date and the dealer took care of everything per above post. Very fast and efficient process.

Good peace of mind for me with the warranty.

Looks legit - Wanted Auto Protect had some horrible reviews so them pulling the plug isn't a surprise. Feel sorry for their policy holders who are now stuck.

Hope those who are now without a functioning policy paid with a credit card. If so, call your credit card company now and file a dispute!
