So I just got some from eBay in the Porsche bag and they definitely do not have a torx interface on them. Are there multiple versions out there? I'd like to get this right and not derp it up.

The ***** on my 997.2 C2 were kind of sticky with the high humidity and hot weather in FL. I removed them the other day and cleaned them with rubbing alcohol.
If you need to replace them, here is the suncoast link ($60):

997.2 PCM 3.0 ***** (you will need a T-6 torx bit to remove them):

Just in case any of you need to know, DO NOT try to simply pull the ***** off. The little center cover pops out and then you will need to use a torx T-6 bit to unscrew the small scew that attaches the ****. Very easy once you know but I will tell you that a T-6 torx bit is so small that you cannot even tell that it is anything more than a small dimple in the center of what appears to be a pressure retainer. Just thought I'd share so you don't destroy your PCM.
Even with 1x reading glasses, it's hard to see the torx pattern. T-6 was a perfect fit.

Thanx!!!
Damn German complexity! GM knows how to do this better than anyone... the ***** just eject themselves after warranty. A way better design.
$60 for two ***** from Suncoast 997.2

Thanks for the advice. Couldn't understand why my ***** were so sticky. I have a 2011 997.2 Turbo S and live in Florida. So it took 6 hears to get in this condition in this heat and humidity. I bought the Suncoast ***** as recommended as it seemed the easiest to do but agree it was expensive . Wish these were made of knurled aluminum. I'll try to clean these anyway with alcohol as well, given that the new ***** will also get sticky over time?

I hope it helps the installation.

I recently used those sticker adhesive remover spray on another item that used the same texture as these radio ***** and it did the job quite well. Of course taking the ***** off the unit to clean it would be the best though.

- EXCELLENT ADVICE & TUTORIAL.
- REPLACED BOTH WITH NEW ***** PURCHASED FROM SUN COAST [EVEN THOUGHT THEY WERE OVER-PRICED]
- WHY? BECAUSE WE ALL TAKE GREAT CARE OF OUR PORSCHES
- MY ORIGINAL INCLINATION WAS TO SIMPLY 'PULL' ON THE *****, UNTIL I RESEARCH/READ THIS POST.
THE KNOWLEDGE SHARED ON RENNLIST MADE ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE IN ACCOMPLISHING THIS CORRECTLY & EASY. MY COMPLEMENTS TO THE 'OP'.
THANK YOU!

Thanks! This thread saved me.
Thank you so much. I purchased push on/pull off ***** from the Suncoast parts finder. They didn't look exactly like mine so I was suspicious. I had watched several YouTubes, seen several posts and all said the 997.2 sticky ***** just pull off. Mine didn't. As I was contemplating using a screwdriver to wedge them off, I came across this thread.
Easy to get the cap off and had to find a tiny torx (#6), but worked like a charm. After getting them off, it was simple work to clean them with rubbing alcohol (soak and rub, soak and rub). I put them back on and they look great and feel better.
I really appreciate it.
